this band is fookin amazin. saw them last night in avalon(hollywood ca.) these guys are doing the same thing as what NO was doing 25 years ago. the sounds is a bit differnt(electro funk with some chemical and underworld mix into it). if you havent heard em go check em out. they should be touring the states and uk for the next month..

Why is it off-topic? He's saying 'here's a band that's doing what New Order were doing 25 years ago'. I don't think I agree, but maybe there's something interesting to be discussed? What is it that LCD are doing now that NO have done before? Is it the approach to making music? The sound? The arrangements? The artistic intent? Tell us, Kino.

The fusion of punk/post punk and dance?

If you're a fan of New Order's early tracks that are more lengthy electronic instrumental passages (Hurt, Everything's Gone Green, Chosen Time, Senses, Cries & Whispers, Ultraviolence, Ecstacy) than traditional verse-chorus-verse-chorus vocal songs then I can't recommend the LCD Soundsystem high enough. (But if you prefer New Order singles it might be too extreme for you). Their debut album, "LCD Soundsystem" is my favourite album this year so far. Get the version that has a bonus disc of the early deleted singles, it's as good as the album.

Great for a long motorway drive. If a little mental at times. Play it loud.

Much better off with the DFA comp album than with the LCD Soundsystem thing, IMO.

Liked the album.Kind of an update on the now um.. outdated Chemical Brothers.

LCD Soundsystem is cool as hell, in a dorky way sometimes but they rock... music for your head and your ass... and in some ways very much 80s New orderish musically, done smartly and well. the second DFA compilation is sure to have something you like and hate, a good value

as far as their music, i know alot bands out there are trying to mix the whole electronic(mostly 80sysnth pop) and rock 2gether, for example bands like killers and bravery etc.. the thing that i noticed abt LCD's music are, they are not abt the synth sounds but more focused on their drum patterns, base line, and sequence. To me new order has always been more of that style. i know they had some catchy synth chords(BLT , BM, etc) but its the way steve creates the pattern of the beats that caught my attention, and the baseline synch with the beats(house music). for example if you go to LCD's website they have a sample(video section) of a track called "movement", that track sounds good because of its catchy drum patterns and baselines. the fact that the track is called "movement" well fill in the blank. and if you watch that video, its a bit rip off perfect kiss. the 2nd thing i notice is the drummer is playing into some intense sequencing during their live acts. as we all know steve plays drums on top of the most intense discotech drum sequences that NO had produced. i mean this drummer(LCD) was amazing he was on beat 99% of the time. the lead singer doesnt look like a lead singer, he looks like a guy that was drunk in a club and decided to get up on the stage and make a fool em self, sounds familiar. they have this girl, i believe she is japanese, and she looks so nervous and shy, obtw she is their keyboard player. i mean i can go on and on abt this, but i guess my point is when first saw new order back in 87 at the forum(los angeles), i was blown away by them, and after seeing LCD, i had that same feeling. Oh, also they are in this label called DFA, that kind of reminds me of how Factory was. Except they dont have that cunt wilson. anyways thats another story....

Beat Connection was pretty good though.

They remind me of New Order, I have to say. They even have the same guitar breaks as New Order use in 'Tribulations'. Mind you, I've only heard the singles so don't know about the rest. But I'm impressed someone remembered 'The Birmingham School of Business School' by The Fall. You don't get song titles like that anymore.
