being from oz I'm familliar with most british venacular as we also use most of it. plus we have a steady stream of british shows on the telly. i can tell you though that following minder was a bit of a struggle when we first came out from germany. it didn't take long though.

That was British?
I thought that was spike speak.
ive noticed this too, and im guilty of it to0. What i really apreciate about the british vernacular is that they have so many different deragotory terms. I would just say you fuckin fuck.
Hopefully my use of the vernacular willnot seep into my conversation with my peeps. That would be lame.

Talk about swooping in, DC.
Have you forgiven me for my needless controversy?
I don't know, Pats.
What's the price for sacrilege in these parts? The burning, the drowning or the smothering in toads?

I don't accuse Jonathan of sacrilege when he expresses his honest opinion that Turn is generic, DC.
So why is it sacrilege for me to express my honest opinion that a certain unnamed album from 1989 is wildly over-rated?
The difference being that Turn is a new album track that many here rate highly and the unnamed 1989 album is universally regarded as a career highpoint, 16 years on.
I'd take the toads if I were you. You might be able to outrun them.

"Universally," DC?
Not by me. Ergo, not universally.
You're not a lawyer by any chance are you, Pats?
I think one often takes a few small liberties when using the term "universal".
Anyhow, I was just playing devil's advocate. Having some fun with the pack mentality that you see on these boards from time to time.
It's not even my favourite NO album.

Should I already know which is your favorite, DC?
PC&L?
I'm glad to hear you encourage dissent.
Perhaps the wisest course would be to avoid words like "universally"?
Universally, Dictionary.com 3. A general or widely held principle, concept, or notion.
adv : everywhere; "people universally agree on this"
But I'm willing to be more judicious with my use of the term in future. To keep the peace with Washington.

I too favor peace and judiciousness.
