Formula 1: The last chance for Jacques Villeneuve

Today it was (finally) confirmed that Jacques Villeneuve will be driving for BMW Sauber in the 2006 championship.

This time, he has no fookin excuses, his teammate, Nick Heidfeld, has the same experience as him with the car, and they both worked with Williams in the past.

So it's now or never, to see if he can shake things a little and get back to his former self, which should be more complicated than ever.

I must say, I was sure he wouldn't be there this year, so I'm quite happy to be able to see what will happen.. unfortunatly this year should still be miserable, but Villeneuve is usually able to push his car to the limit, so if he's given a good car, he should be able to do well.

That's what we'll see...!

i like "piglet" but sadly his nickname of "Mr i can win in a Williams Renault" is well earned.

He's been saying ever since Pete Sauber sold up that he had a contrat with sauber and that BMW bought that with the company. Guess BMW couldn't hack his whining.

Canada needs to get over Gilles, learn to appreciate that Jacques isn't him (would Gilles have been pissed on by an array of team mates just out of nappies, nope), and statr finding more young talent, I look forward to Montreal every year, I'd miss it.....unless you move the race back to mosport in which case FUCK MONTREAL!.

The thing that is sadder for me than the thought of Jacques going back to CART where he can win al the time again, is the realisation that F1 is dead. There is now exactly ONE real team on the grid (Williams) all the others are just corporate outposts, that will be destroyed at the first sign of money troubles. Still I have hopes for the new "no michael schumacher cheating devices" rules.

BTW Heidfeld...same experience? with THAT car maybe...But JV was already CART and F1 world champ when Heidi was still getting bitchslapped by Montoya in F3000.

You're a bit hard on Jacques there.. I admit he went the wrong way with BAR, and that ruined his career, but what do you want, it's impossible to get back so easily after 5 years of being behind the lot.

Which wasn't his fault, I'm still sure he can manage to do things. But it's true that the car is for a lot in F1, check Michael this year, he didn't do much with an average Ferrari.

I may be hard on old jack, but I'm not about to compare him to baron von cobblers :)

I love his attitude, without Irvine around he's the last guy who actually speaks with his own bloody mouth. But kids keep hammering the guy, in the same car, and that sucks.

I'm also really impressed that him and JPM can still get into a fistfight in this day and age. :D

I reckon Heidfeld will bring home more points.

I enjoyed watching he and Webber duke it out for Williams this year, even though the car handled like Rocket Mick's old lorry.

the scariest car I ever seen was JV's 02 or 03 BAR....we called it "Christine", it actually tried to kill him 3 times in one corner at Brazil. Don't like Heidi, he was JPM's nemesis in F3000, and I wa already a Montoya fan by about the 2nd race of 98.
