Apart from NO at the Apollo and Hyde Park I would say Gorillaz at Manc Opera House. U2 short set at Live 8.

Saw Kraftwerk in the previous year and they were excellent. I remember Hooky mentioning seeing them somewhere in Europe, so I wonder if that was his favourite gig.

New Order and the Chems in Oakland was tops.

Gang of Four were the best thing at Coachella for me, got bored listening to Jem, Fiery Furnaces were decent, rather see them in a club, and walking past the tent where The Bravery were playing was enough for me.

Los Lobos in my town, playing a lot of their other Spanish-language tracks to an audience who only wanted to hear La Bamba.....have always liked these guys for doing what they want to do.....and not what the record company or the general public wants.

Christ not seen that many gigs this year,it would be a more impressively long list of NON-attendances to fave gigs this year.Nevermind. The ones I did see:-

LIVE 8 - Amazing day, spent about fourteen hours on our feet, with only breakfast and a hot-dog at dinner!

U2 at City of Manchester Stadium- Another great gig, till he started preaching.Much preferred him when he was MacPhisto when he sent himself up.

INTERPOL at The Manc. Academy- Another excellent gig, excellent new album to showcase..and they did NYC!!

JAMES BLUNT at Academy- AAARGH! No he is good live no matter what youse think of him!

LADYTRON at M/C Students Union- Low key showcase for Witching Hour.Brilliant gig.

AND>> NEW ORRRDDDAHHH!! at the Apollo- Ashamed to miss them at Hyde Park, but brilliant gig, brilliant day meeting NOOLers.

oh and HOOKY dj set at North Bar ,Blackburn Great to meet the geezer in the most smallest of clubs.Didn't recognise half the stuff he played, but he played a NO track and a Mash-up of Grace Jones/JD doing She's Lost Control.Good night out with my mate Banshee, his missus Teresa,Woman of Substance,Wayne,Edd Boland and Jake Dudek.
