I'll post a babelfish translation of a France article, so I'm sorry if it sucks:

A fatwa (religious opinion) prohibiting to the husbands to completely strip itself when they make love caused a controversy among the Egyptian doctors of the charia, the Islamic law.

"To be very naked during the sex act invalidates the marriage" sliced in a fatwa the sheik Rashar Hassan Khalil, ex-vice-chancellor of the faculty of the charia of the Al-Azhar university, most famous of Islam sunnite.

The chief of the committee of the Al-Azhar fatwas, Abdallah Megawer considére that the husbands can see themselves naked, but without looking at the sexual parts. It thus recommends to them to lay out a cover on their body

Of course the rest of the article is about the protestation that this "fatwa" caused..

But why in the name of god would ANYONE want that? There's nothing more beautiful in this world than a woman body and you want to HIDE it and even when you are making love? :nuts:

well i read up on him some while back. when he was in germany studying, he outwardly appeared to be the well adjusted student, but inwardly he became increasingly disaffected from western society, and sought out radical imans.

Not the same thing here... we're talking about sex between a husband and a wife, that could be voided if they actually saw each others... !!!

Anyways, I'm not there to judge culture and religion....

You're right about that, hence why this is the OFF-TOPIC forum where people can discuss various things.

I can discuss what the catholic church did over here in the 1940 to 1960 if you want, I have no problem with it.... no religion is better than one another, that's for sure.

Actually, that's the thing, it's not THEIR business... it's the religious autorities that ask them to do so.
