Well I did think of Steps first and was going to put them down for second and third place but thought it was a little unimaginative. However, I am sure there are far more I could add if given a little more time. I would also like to add Rene and Renata and Joe Dolce although technically not groups.

Why thank you. my day was going rather well for once. The I get a blast of "save your love" AND shutupayourface )sp?) all at once. Cheers
Dolce's worst crime was allowing the UK to make worldwide retards of ourselves by that tune keeping Vienna off No.1 Maybe if it HAD been No1 Ultravox would have quit while they were ahead and not turned into some awfulpub band.
Speakin of which..... no one appears to have Mentioned "the Quo"

Nice choices, the first and third make me want to distort some guitars to show how music is done instead of being fucking pansies about it. And the amount of times Spitting Games was played last year makes me want to stab Snow Patrol.
The Eagles are bottom of the barrel for me, moving in on Gram Parsons' turf, but then again, if GP wasn't so hell-bent on self-destruction......![]()
Starship........snooze-fest pap from people who should've known better.
probably a thousand-way tie for last, most of those extreme death metal bands who appear to have put more effort into their menancing looks, unreadable band logos, wordy song titles and vile album covers than the actual music. Glancing through Pit Magazine at the newsstand is always good for a chuckle.
My choices have to be, in any order: (and two of them are from Manchester)
Simply Red Lighthouse Family M People..
honourable mentions to U2, Travis, Stereophonics and Basement Jaxx too..
i can't believe i forgot vengaboys. take out one bon jovi, add vengaboys.
what the hell is a 'vengaboy' anyway?

Back to the island. Woah. We're gonna have a party. Woah. In the Mediterranian Sea.
Ioh Ioh, Oh We Oh
Ioh Ioh, Oh We Oh Ioh Ioh, Oh We Oh Ioh Ioh, Oh We Oh
bands like Creed that offer nothing more than bland thoughtless imitations of other bands with nothing to add but smugness and ego, all to fit market demographics of the lowest common denom... so many bands have done the dumbed down imitation of Nirvana filtered thru Pearl Jam and some Soundgarden it is hard to keep track if one wanted to try...
also bands that are "alterna- lite", totally unchallenging and very safe... the bland mainstream kids think they are da bomb... mostly harmless i guess, but so boring and lame
the "Pop Tarts" are harmless fun, or just ignore them. thou why does Madonna still have a career, i dunno? she shoulda been put out to pasture 15 years ago
Thanks to the Agent, I've remembered another group that had about two hits when I was 13:

This was their biggest hit:
Witch Doctor
Hey Witch Doctor - give us the magic words! Alright you go uhh eeh uh ah ah ting tang walla walla bing bang
Alright
Uhh ehh uh ah ah Ting tang walla walla bing bang Uhh ehh uh ah ah Ting tang walla walla bing bang (Repeat x4)
I told the Witch Doctor I was in love with you I told the Witch Doctor I was in love with you And the Witch Doctor he told me what to do He told me
Uhh ehh uh ah ah Ting tang walla walla bing bang Uhh ehh uh ah ah Ting tang walla walla bing bang (Repeat x2)
I told the Witch Doctor you didn't love me true I told the Witch Doctor you didn't love me nice And then the Witch Doctor he gave me this advice
Uhh ehh uh ah ah Ting tang walla walla bing bang Uhh ehh uh ah ah Ting tang walla walla bing bang (Repeat x2)
You can keep your love from me just like you were a miser And I'll admit it wasn't very smart So I went out and found myself a guy that's so much wiser And he taught me the way to win your heart
Uhh ehh uh ah ah Ting tang walla walla bing bang Uhh ehh uh ah ah Ting tang walla walla bing bang (Repeat x2)

Can I just mention.... what ya call em fast food cuntz
After a little thought here are my nominations:
Limp Bizkit It's hard to find the words to adequately describe Fred Durst but "talentless fraudulent deluded bone-headed juvenile bandwagon-jumping arsewipe" could be a start. At least the likes of Kiss and Motley Crue actually enjoyed being paid vast sums of money to act like overgrown children in public and made music that reflected that whereas Fred Durst rants and whines like Harry Enfield's Kevin The Teenager on steroids which is presumably what one of the vice-presidents of the record company to which his band is signed thinks the kids want, that VP being Fred Durst. If we could bring Kurt Cobain back to life and play him some Limp Bizkit he'd shoot himself again.
So Solid Crew At its peak the group was made up of more than twenty people but they didn't have a brain between them, as demonstrated on their hit "21 Seconds" during which a series of MCs were given 21 seconds on the mic but all managed to say fuck all of any note. They had flash cars, they had champagne and, as various court cases and the incident in which one member of the crew shot himself have shown, they had weapons but no matter what they had they were still a bunch of what are now known as chavs. They are currently in "urban" music's "whatever happened to" file which is very large but sadly does not contain everyone who has ever been involved in this bastard offspring that was created when soul was raped by gangsta rap.
S Club 7 To continue the shooting theme hardcore porn's loss was pop music's gain but pop music gained a "band" with so little personality that even the arrest of some of the members for smoking cannabis in public failed to make them interesting. They had a series of hits such as "Reach" and...no I can't remember any of the others and then disappeared from the scene almost as unnoticeably as they arrived on it. One of them has gone on to have a solo career making equally unmemorable music but without having to share the video shoot/lad mag photo shoot/getting out of a car outside a trendy nightclub without showing your knickers to the photographers shoot with less attractive bandmates which is the most important thing.
