Seeing attacks on the embassies in Iran,Syria, were government sanctioned. The Dansih government is taking it as an act of war.Hopefully the Royal Danish Airforce can borrow a few boron nitride tip bunker busters fron the US,and maybe israel will loan a few neutron bombs to deliver to Damascus,Tehran post haste.

two wrongs don't make a right.
This is what awaits you Euro-types if you knuckle under your free speech to the "Religion of Peace"...
We are all Danes now. Islam wants us dead...NOOLers or not.
Time for Europeans to stand up and cast out this 7th century mob that would burn every NO/JD album in site.
THESE ARE THE REAL NAZIS...and it emanates from Mecca and Tehran and Damascus....
I say MORE CARTOONS...we are getting under their fucking skins and I love it.

who are the nazis? those who want to cast that "7th century mob." those muslims who post on this site have shown us that there is another side to islam. yes there is understandable outrage at those cartoons in the Muslim world. read back i won't explain why. yes things have gotten out of hand at some demonstrations.
read on and you will find that extremism exists in almost every religion.
i think you will find that most muslims living in western countries are hard working an well adjusted. yes a few have taken things too far, but i assure you they don't speak for the majority.
anyway i'm going to call it a night.

That is quite impressive. I say more cartoons as well, ones with Bart Simpson, Bender, Beavis and Butthead, and the Ninja Turtles!

i think doonesbury would be most appropriate.

Arsehole.
"You Euro types"? You are writing from a country that censored a live performance of the Rolling Stones because they're too chuffing lewd for US sensibilities so, without trying to lower the debate, what happened to their freedom of speech???
I'm sick of seeing moronic comments from a country that is so insular that when it gets involved in anything beyond its own border it creates a whole pile of shit for everyone else. Your comments just show you to be a mirror image of those mobs that burned the bloody embassies down. Of course there are problems but nothing will get solved through antagonism as there are too many shit stirrers on both sides.

Well, after the infamous Janet Jackson "wardrobe failure" at the Superbowl, which many children watch with their parents, the FCC has cracked down on such shananagins. Blame Janet for busting out her boob.

Protests in Afghanistan - have lead to 4 dead... so far, all rioters. Protests in Indonesia - "The protest -- much smaller than billed by organizers -- ended peacefully." United Arab Emirates - Thomas Bay, Consul at the Royal Danish Consulate and Trade Commission of Denmark in Dubai, has said, "we feel safe in Dubai. This is a civilised place and the security in general is very high in the UAE."
Afghanistan literacy rate - 36% UAE literacy rate - 78% Indonesian literacy rate - 87.9%
Hopefully that will shed some light on the situation. Doctors, lawyers, scientists, and engineers are not out in the streets.

Whose fault is that?

The last two are former colonies. The first one has never been a colony. USSR tried to get into Afganistan to improve peoples's lives, to bring more literacy, but failed.

It's got nothing to do with placing blame. It's about separating religion from the equation and showing that the attacks are politically motivated.
Widespread illiteracy is a product of a third world country. Are you asking me to find blame in why a country is poor?

Yeah, look how well that worked out for the rest of the countries taken over by the USSR. And look how it benefited the USSR themselves. If they were still around, we might be able to ask them.

I was reading last night about the Beirut protests. First account I actually read about. The vast majority of the marchers were peaceful, but some violent elements peeled off and attacked the Danish and Norwegian embassies, then marched through Christian neighborhoods, attacking a church, etc.
The clerics tried to stop them, but were brushed aside.
My first impression was "What do the Lebanese Christians have to do with the Danish newspaper"?
And now I think that is a key to the puzzle. I smell Syria.

My mother threw out a chest full of my comic books when I was a kid. Came home from school one day and they were all gone. (And they'd probably be worth a mint by now).
What do we want? More cartoons! When do we want them? Now!
Indonesian literacy rate - 87.9%
I fear that that is higher than the US.:(
Speaking of Danes. I spent Saturday with about 6000 of my best bicycling friends freezing our asses off on the imfamous BRR ride. No need for icing the beer this year. Even though it is a 24 mile round trip via bike I took all my lights because often we get trapped in the bar in Rippey. The helmet that I use for the helmet light has a Danish flag on it.

but we so love talking about religion and politics.
JD and NO discussion is on the other forums. This one is wide open. Discussion closed? No way.

point well taken. sorry.
so how about choosing next weeks topic? Martin Luther into the 1500C. John Calvin 1550. there's Arminianism for1610 that the Dutch thought was sliced bread. Jean Jacque Roussea 1750s.
Karl Marx. 1880s.
what happened to the enlighted ages? Toaism? Confusious? what is happening from such potential? France locked down in the 1600. there's even a little film about Marie Antoinette coming out this year. has a decent band on its trailer so it's said.

i guess those topics aren't well quite as topical. i guess i could have a discussion about the reformation, as with so many things it is one that i know more than a little about but by no means am an expert in.
