does anyone else feel that they live in the wrong country.

i often feel like a am a square peg in a round hole, or is it the other way round, here in oz. i don't think i could ever live back in germany, too regulated that place. i think the us or the uk (except for the weather) could be the go.

UK is ok I guess. Shite weather but pretty cool.

liked Germany, very pretty place. Well the bits I saw anyway(north west), but I guess every country has it's shitholes.

well i'm from the north west. still germany is the place of the verboten. it is verboten to walk on the grass. they hav signs in the public parks saying that. that is just an example.

Sweden is ok for me. I like the weather. Pretty much like the weather in UK. A little colder and more snow. Allthough I think that the government is a little to much pro-USA. The same could be said about England.

Fook Deutschland. My friend's father who lived in Munich discovered he had cancer. The German Health Care System told him that he was old and was going to die any way. The man was 75 years old. She is very bitter about this since she lives in the States and knows that you can attempt to fight cancer.

Constantly. But it's been a lifelong thing, not a recent thing. I'd like to eventually see more of the world. Live somewhere else. Get accustomed to an entirely new set of rules, regulations and language. I'll get there.

I actually lived up near there for 6 months with a friend. When people hear you are from Texas they expect things.. cowboy boots, a heavy accent, a ranch somewhere.

I left them confused. When all the stereotypes were shattered they didn't know how to deal with me.

If not for the weather, the UK or Canada would be very appealing to me. I've been in the sun too long. Can't take the cold.

Hell, Socrates died at 77, of course, he drank the hemlock, but still! I wouldn't be singing the praises of the United States corpo-medical racket any time soon either. All the good trustbusters have long since gone (sigh).

I'd like to think of myself as a stateless citizen, not in the illegal, Interpol-sought sort of way, but more in the thought that all notions of patriotism are more or less bullcrap. The country you happen to reside in determines who you are as an individual no more than the outdated, illusory concepts of "race" and ethnicity. Phenotypes, nothing more. You know, just like what Barney said, "It's like the color of your skin..."

That being said, America loves Aussies, have no idea what the hell you're saying 3/4ths of the time, but still, great folks.

Most definately, at the very least, in the wrong PART of the country. I'm in Minnesota and I'd give anything to be in New England. The UK also feels more like home.

I like Deutschland, I have some friends there.

Let me tell you about germans couple lived in US. They were just walkin around some park with their little girl-kid. The girl started screaming to piss to piss to piss, so young mother helped her to dress off and so on. Both mother and father were suspected by molesting her. How stupid is that. They had really huge problem, fortunately someone helped them to escape from US.

i dunno, exactly. Canberra just sometimes feels too small for me and so wrong for me. i miss all that history and culture stuff from Germany. it could just be that i'm living in the wrong city. it could also be that i don't have any family left here. my family, what's left of it these days is in Melbourne. Philadelphia, Germany and Italy.

Well, life is too short to spend it doing the wrong thing, Ronno. If Canberra's the wrong town, or OZ is the wrong country, no point wasting precious years. Maybe it's a good time for you to sort out what is right for you. Keep in mind that the grass tends to look greener on the other side of the fence, but if you'd genuinely be happier elsewhere, you should make that move.

And yes Mike, the fucking secret police are everywhere in this country. I had been in my flat 3 weeks when the TV licence Nazis turned up. Read me my rights and everything! Now, fair enough i should have got one before i moved in, but if i didnt pay the gas or lekky, it would take them ages to bust me for it. Forget about the TV licence and you are in the shit before you can blink.

shit it sounds like the uk is even more restricted than germany. we never paid our tv licence fee there.

that reminds me of my all time favourite (german)candid camera skit.

they pretended to be from german tv and were hounding these poor people in austria for receiving german tv for free. they were all shit scared.

I'd prefer to live in a social democracy, but Europe is too developed for my tastes. Still some wilderness left in the United States, but people cut their own throats at the polls.
