it is a southern german and alpine thing. if it wasn't for the language southern germany might as well be a foreign country to me. it is just so different in culture, architecture, and even in religion, being predominantly catholic. all that slap dancing is just as foreign to me as it is to you.

politically as well. they are very conservative in bavaria.

yes also in accent. the closed i can compare it to would be the difference between received pronunciation an the english they speak in Scotland.

it is a Bremer. I don't know if there is anything culturally typical bremerish, except for a few old traditions. we are very much like the english. we are also very proud of our long history of independence. we are one of the oldest republics in the world, except for a few years in the 30s and 40s.

So is the Bremer accent closer to the received pronunciation?
