The Safeway is th Only Way

Nipped out for a few essentials earlier. Slightly further to Safeway so I took the motor. I would have driven anyway, it's cold and I was in a hurry.

As I only had three items, they let me jump the queue and use the fags and lottery counter. It was only a little queue anyway, and there were three checkouts open.

We have a shop near where I'm living next year called "Safebury's". The lovechild of Sainsbury's and Safeway's, well, not really, just people who are uninventive with names.

Safebury's?

Sounds like a great name for a mortuary manufacturer.

we do have a safeways out here. that's what they for some reason call woolworths in the state of victoria. to confuse the issue even more woolworths here is a totally australian company.

It's the Co-Operative for me as I don't drive and it's the only place within walking distance. It's fucking grim. Like shopping in a Russian supermarket in the 1980's. Brown bread is about as exotic as it gets in there.

I disagree. I think co-op rocks myself. I have one just down the road from me too, handy for when you need to pick up essentials, like Becks, Wine etc.......i mean milk and weetabix.

They do free trade stuff which is always a bonus and of course it's a supermarket with a "moral" existance. Good bank too.

It did get ram raided a while ago though, alas, no proper front window for about 3 months. A person in a Liverpool shirt was spotted fleeing the scene in a Cosco GoKart mind!

i agree...and Bonzy's talkin shit. Co-op is crap. your description is spot on. coz we used to have one near me. but that was in the 80's no trolleys. just baskets.

the Aldi near me is useless. no trolleys, no baskets. just use your hands, or find a cardboard box from somewhere and put your stuff in that. only been once. ONE checkout open never again. (full of stewdies too )

i pay wayyyy too much for it over here

and supermarkets here on the whole are a bit more expensive and bigger than they are over there... so aldi is a bit more affordable. if there was netto here i'd be hooking it up.

The brown sauce out of the likes of Aldi or Lidl is rotten. Too runny usually. It's HP, Daddies or nothing I'm afraid.

And my Co-Op doesn't have trolleys either. Or a member of staff under 60. Or baguettes. Or Raspberry Stoli. Or a Daily Record after 10AM.
