Virgil's Aeneid IV.

Fucking rubbish. That's what I'm doing in Latin at the moment, and I can quite honestly say it is the shittest and most boring thing I have ever done in 5 years at my school. I hate it so much, every lesson I just wanna fall asleep or drink myself to death or something.

Last lesson, I got so bored that I started helping my friend Al roll cigarettes, even though I don't smoke. I hate it, it sucks ass. I'm not arsed about Aeneas and Dido or Ascanius or any of them, it's just depressing and crap. I wish I wasn't good at Latin, because then last year I would have dropped it and that would have meant I would never have had to do this tedious Virgil shite. Ever.

Roll on June when I can get my GCSE out of the way, and then never look at another Latin word ever again!

VIRGIL SUCKS. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

If I EVER talk about Latin or Virgil in a pub, I really hope the person/people that I'm with slap me round the face. Hard.

you're not old enough yet to have experienced the pretentious bullshitting and pontification of men stood around the bar trying to impress others with their knowledge of useless bullshit.

you'll win dude.

well I'm sure if you tell them your lineage you'll win some points as well.. ;)

I'm with ChrissMari on this one. You'll hate the boorish script now, but damned if it doesn't wind up being something you can fling about at 1am while keeling to a side and slurring in a bid to win a "who has got the bigger intellect" fight.

If anything, being able to incorporate aged literature in a common pub discussion is worth it if only to make your own self laugh.

That and lineage, and you'll win just about any argument to be pressed on you, I'd think.

Jack - try reading some Ovid or Horace instead. Ovid is just a pile of tales (written around the same time as Virgil's stuff) about this guy and all his antics in trying to pull the posh totty! Quality stuff.

Classics degrees are no use though man - look where it got me! Never yet met a fucker who can speak ancient Greek, or Latin for that matter!

Ecce Romani, or summat like that.

All I remember is Marcus & Sextus and the Circus Maximus

and a Lion

Yeah man Ovid sounds well cooler than Virgil.

I'm not gonna get a degree in it, just gonna get my GCSE then tell it to fook off!!

I liked the stuff we did agggges ago about Odysseus and stuff like that, with all the cool one eyed monsters and other mint stuff and the gods killing people, Virgil is just crap.

i hated the odyssey. absolute torture. the ancients never did it for me, except for plato's republic and the last days of socrates. ace. :thumb:

the canterbury tales: now there's a nice and filthy respectable classic! :evil4:
