First time I have ever seen that video and directed by Spike Jonze too!

Sorry, meant to say Spike LEE, I've been listening to a Telex CD today and there's a track called Spike Jonze...

Good film, very funny and there's plenty of references to Spaced and a few nods to films in the zombie genre. Well worth seeing I'd say.

I do, I have had an argument with a good friend and a fellow New Order fan about how I think Chic were an influence for New Order and certainly to Bernard. But he just won't have it!

It's funny really, among my first records I ever bought were Sex Pistols, PIL, The Buzzcocks and the like but also Donna Summer, Chic, Sparks...

Slightly curious with his Neptune quote, sounds like one of Tony Wilson’s, however they certainly were pioneers; as producers and musicians they were very much sought after by a lot of other artists and created a distinct sound of their own. Personally I have always liked tight, clean production à la Bernard Edwards and Nile Rogers, Giorgio Moroder et al. Probably why I quickly followed the path of electronica and dance music…

Bizarrely "I'm Coming Out" and "Upside Down" are the only Diana Ross songs that I could say I’ve ever liked and now it all makes sense!

Although I don't know an awful lot on them to me, they were the only disco act that seemed to stick out, because they were an actual group, rather than a mastermind of someone like Giorgio Moroder (Donna Summer springs to mind). I noticed that in the 80's, people were saying they stole the bassline for 'Another One Bites The Dust'! :nonono:

Personally, I'm not endavoured with a production. As long as the songs are good, I'm happy.

have you heard the story about how 'le freak' was born?

nile rodgers and the other members of chic were trying to get into studio 54 and were denied entry. they went back to nile's apartment (i believe it was) and started jamming with the lyrics, 'aaah, f**k you!' in reference to how they felt about steve rubell and the studio 54 bouncers that evening. they liked how the session turned out and decided to cut it as a song but realized they had to change the words, so they changed them to 'aaah, freak out!'

they were never denied entry into studio 54 again, mind you!

I heard that also-it was on VH1's "Behind The Music" episode!! clean glass production, economical guitar playing, and man Nile Rodgers could move up a fret board!!

somehow as I got into the music I swore I heard some of Chic in "Blue Monday"intentional or not-esp. the bass line-or am I nuts?
