You wouldn't though, would you? That's not how football fandom works. You can't just decide, I'm gonna support them cos they're a lower league team. It's not like music or women or whatever which is driven by choice, football's largely a partisan sport. You support a team from the day dot, and stick with it.

I hear a good tune on the radio, I'll go pilfer a few records by that band on soulseek, maybe go see them live, but with football I can watch someone like Chelski literally destroy West Ham two weekends ago and appreciate the football but like FCUK am I ever gonna start supporting them or going to their games 'out of interest'.

Unless of course you are genuinely a Premiership Spastic (that word again, just for Steve Lea!) and then you follow whichever team's got the nicest duvet covers. Or fleeces. And has the prettiest carrier bags at the clubshop (cos, let's face facts, you're gonna be carrying one around everywhere you go from now on. What do these people keep in them? Severed heads?!).

Can we have a "European Spastics" sub-category?

One of the apprentices at work reckons he supports Juventus  He got all arsey with me when I asked him how long it took him to get to home games.

About the same time it used to take us to get to The Priestfield - probably...
