But how do you meet NOOL mates? The main reason I started posting was beacuse, believe it or not, having lurked for a while, I wanted to get involved with the community and get to know some people who shared not just a love of NO, but in many other cases, interests in sport, humour, etc. Things change, and I'm sure back in the old days you did have to post a lot (but over a longer time) to get to know people and established, and I'm sure a lot of that talk was about NO, but that shouldn't mean that it becomes a closed shop and noone else can get involved - with BCD it makes it easier to post a lot in a shorter space of time, than if everything had to be NO-related... Is it bad because it's different or bad because it's bad? I ignore anything about films, formula 1, a lot of politics stuff, but I am interested in what people are listening to, silly threads (that are clearly labelled) when I've got time to spare and above all NO when I have something to say, which right now is obviously not that often...

I'm really not bothered about post counts, but I don't think people should be censured for posting on BCD just because some people don't find the posts amusing or relevant... I've deliberately tried to avoid lots of posting recently because I don't want to be lumped in with the 'Pariahs'... I'd like to get to know people, be a part of this, but because I'm relatively new, I don't want to step on anyone who's been here longer's toes...

Thank you for your time,

Not doing yourself any favours by being a West Ham fan, mate!:evil4:

Only kidding:thumb:

Er, thats flying a bit close to the wind isnt it??

Snorri, you said it all.... I've made some really good friends on Nool and there is a real community here despite the efforts of some real miserable gits to be found on a couple of the other threads right now!

But you've still got FA chance in the FA Cup :evil4:

remove the "top" posters in the last 24 hours. it's not a contest. invariably they are not top posts.

EDIT - I mean remove the section of the website that lists the "top" posters of the last 24 hours, i am not advocating their extinction.

I think we all have our little group of NOOL mates we've made over the years and I bet we all chat to them regularly enough via IM or e-mail. I just don't see the point of clogging up the board with pointless FAO messages nobody gives a shit about or using the board as a slow IM chat.

Only 10 people have so far voted in this poll - far less than people have contributed to the discussion - is this really about post counts? 90% of the time it should be easy to ignore anything in BCD that doesn't interest you, if threads are properly titled, so ignore them, ignore the forum if you must... The Shed threads will die soon anyway... :)

Ahh Bonzette, at last our paths cross on a post...

what an exciting game last night, that late strike from Forsell really spiced up the relegation battle and Birminghams win against Blackburn has kept them in the race for survival!

Cos that was one of the founding reasons this forum was created, when there was only Digital Republic, Nicos got fed up with us posting about footy. Most of the people who have been posting since the start are all football fans.

And Liam, I've said it before, yer a cunt.

quite harsh. I remember having a little spat with you, but i thought it was quite benign. We made nice through email, right? As for Liam, i really dont remember.Quite possible, as he sometimes can be confrontational.

Anyhow, Im sure that many people on this site dont consider me a cunt.

I agree Missy. I find the forum is good for stress relief as I hate my job at the moment, and this gives me a bit of a different outlet. Also, I don't have many other people to talk to who are interested in NO and I am able to find out info about NO here that I wouldn't necessarily hear about otherwise.

I think it will be removed in the next release, that and the fact that the last topics will only be about the "on-topic" forums.

That's a great idea. I bet it's occasionally quite daunting to get to the first page and see some of the BCD thread titles.

The first page is, amongst other things, an advert to newcomers to the site!

Lose the number of posts next to each message posted, but keep the post ranks there, as a bit of a compromise - that way people who really care can see roughly how many messages someone has posted and feel proud of their rank, without it being so explicit as to exactly how many messages have been posted... Lose the Top Posters thing as well, but above all realise that if you're relatively new to NOOL (like me) you can't just come in and hijack everything, repesct those who have been here longer, but also for those who have been here a while, realise that things do change - some of the "in the good old days" comments sound like grandparents comlaining about their grandchildren's taste in music or clothes, etc. - just because things were different in the beginning doesn't mean they should stay like that - maybe 1000 posts was a real achievement once upon a time, now it's not - some people seem to covertly really care about newbies posting lots, because it belittles their own post count?

Keep the forum, keep the post counts.

Bar access to BCD for those with under 500 posts If quality control is what people are bothered about and NOOL can survive a drop in activity.

Quite the reverse, I'd have thought. How many times have we seen someone come in here and accuse the big-time posters (myself included) of 'not having a life' because of their post counts?

And I'm never one to back down when someone airs a comment like that.

Fair enough, guys, it was just a thought - I was trying to imaine what I'd feel like if I had been here since the start only to be confronted by the current situation - maybe I secretly care about post-counts more than I think... I wasn't suggesting that that was the case with everyone, but maybe for some part of the whole - "it was better in the old days" thing, sort of "I earned my post-count the hard way, these youngsters don't know they're born"! EDIT: Never thought of it like that before, Al, probably because I would never dream of doing so - I think seeing how much time needs to be spent on here even to post 1000 meassges of shite, I respect anyone who has a high post count - I do think some newbies are a little inconsiderate in how they treat the fora...

Probably is way off the mark... Back to the shed for a bacon sandwich...

Misinterpreted then, in no way was I being harsh, just stating the facts about why this forum was put here in the first place, any falling out however big or small we had must've ben cleared up cos I can't even remember it mate.....but that should come as no surprise, I am not famous for having a good memory :thumb: When I was moderator I had to email a few people regarding certain issues and it always got cleared up - I don't think I issued any warnings (well, maybe once to Garrity :D )

As for calling Liam a cunt, Liam's a pal and a big boy and he knows it's always said in jest......well, most of the time :evil4:

I have opened a BCD Official SILLY Thread, hope that is allowed. One thread for all the silly stuff.

It really is easy, people who wanna post daft stuff on one thread ONLY can, and people who wanna avoid Daft stuff know where it is and have nothing to complain about.
