Ottawa defeats Calgary

I praying for the Carolina Hurricanes. Haven't been into hockey before, but I'm surprised that they are pretty good.

Devils are going to take out the Red Wings to win it this year...

Carolina did make it to the finals in 2002, but Montreal should put up a good fight in the first round.

I still prefer my Sens over the Devils, but Lamoriello has done one hell of a job as coach. (pun intended)

i think the sabres will come out of the east, a long shot i know but they are a fun team to watch. i think the flames will beat them in 6 for the Cup

And I have hope to finally meet Ottawa in the 2nd round ;)

But I don't have too high expectations for the first round.

Sounds about right to me. Though I could see Calgary winning as well.

I do admit that Canada has sensational teams, but with my state representing, that's what makes the playoffs so unpredictable.

I think New Jersey will come out of the East...

Ottawa will go nowhere with Emery in goal.

As for the west, it'll be Detroit unfortunatly.

The rest depends on injuries, really.

Unless you win the FA Cup or the Premiership, it don't count. Congrats on your promotion to League Two though.

Ottawa, Detroit & Nashville won their first games!

AUGH! Oilers lose in double overtime, absolutely gutting. Roloson was absolutely stellar in net, however.

The Flames don't have enough offensive ability to make it to the Finals. If the Wings can avoid letdowns against inferior teams, they will make it to the final round. However, there is not given that that will not happen. In the East, the Senators are the best team but I doubt their character, primarily due to thei fact that there is only one Cup ring on the entire team (Hasek) and their habitual disappointing playoff performances. The Devils have a serious shot at going that far, although I don't feel the Hurricanes will be able to make it. The only teams out of the East that I feel confident could make it to the Finals and WIN them are the Senators and the Devils - I just have never bought into the Flyers and still don't.

You we're right, damn you!

Canada will have to wait yet another year.

so you are a "CANIAC!" soryy but the Hurricanes winning sickens me for so many reasons

Firstly because the great fans of hartford have to watch their team win the cup in those god awful jerseys, secondly if the Hurricanes never win again the "CANIACS" probably wont lose any sleep over it, thirdly Laviolette was my Coach a few years ago, but our Great former GM Mad Mike Milbury Sent him Packing, actually im happy that laviolette can now boast to MM that he has the cup, something that Milbury was Unable to achieve as a Player, Coach & GM.

I hate it when warm weather teams win the Stanley Cup!

I did not watch all the games of the series, but from what I did see, it seemed to me that it was a good series overall.

It looked like Carolina was going to blow them out at the start, but the Oilers came back and made the whole thing entertaining and exciting.
