Darren Bent Bent Bent!

Twenty odd goals this season when to be honest apart from the first dozen games or so the rest of our team's been utter cack shows he's got an eye for goal.

We're a bit short on quality strikers if Rooney misses out and Owen ain't ready. Defoe will have to be in the squad, but besides that there's only Eeyort Crouch. Vassell ain't strong enough, Heskey's shite, Bent ain't up to it yet, Beattie will concede too many freekicks.

Can't help but wonder what Paraguay are talking about today either. he may get his fitness back in time and not like his skills would have gotten rusty. But your second choices think can play smart and strong enough without him. The words around this part are about the Italians naming their line-up for training. Filippo Inzaghi back wearing Italy's colours after a couple years. 12 goals for AC Milan. 4 goals in Champions. .on the injury front. Totti broke his leg and damaged ankle ligament in February and is just now back in form. Vieri knee injury isn't going well. lots can happen before the 12 June.

This might have been said on Page 1 of the thread... I dunno, I didnt read it.

Darren Bent needs to be given more of a chance than the one game he had; he is fast and clinical from what I've seen, and a natural striker.

As for Beattie, I dont think he's up for the grade; Fowler seems to be playing better under Rafa, but is currently behind Morientes and Cisse in terms of starting a game there.

What about Dean Ashton?

Dean Ashton for me.

Aaron Lennon should be in the squad and with his pace he would murder most defences and he's worth throwing on up front for the last ten minutes even if it isn't his normal position. Brazil's defence is creaking before they've started the tournament I read the other week Roque Jr is still in with a chance of going FFS!

A year ago i would have said Defoe :spit:

But to be honest, i don't think there is any player that can be taken in Rooney's place, that will even come close to doing the same job.

Whoever MIGHT go in his place, guaranteed Engaland fans will watch a catalogue of misses and sitters!

How long has Thierry Henry lived in the UK?:evil4:

Luca Toni must start for the Italians. He's scored 28 goals in Serie A this season for a resurgent Fiorentina. A tasty 22/1 to be the tournament's top scorer. As fer England i'd have Defoe starting.

How rusty did Pippo Inzaghi look in the Champions League semi-final? Like a reserve midfielder being made to play up front against his wishes, yards off the pace, his second touch was a tackle, shocking really for someone who used to be a feared striker.

Not exactly set the Prem alight though, has he?

Hasn't scored in eight, and is now injured.

We're doomed!

The only thing we should take is a break, and re-think our plan for 2010...

At least there won't be any perceived pressure to pick Beckham in 2010!

No questioning his skills. Just hope that it's not a repeat of Portugal-03 when he went out on injury and it took 10 weeks. not sure if it was a match or a practice but they tagged him electronically and it was marked that Rooney Pele Blanco- covered pretty much every inch of the pitch over the course of the game.

As far as Inzaghi goes hes a touch high strung and a drama-dive but does set himself up well and can change the whole tide in a few minutes. His spot on the training squad is getting challenged by two mm leggy Iaquinta and Cucarelli who use height as Pippo lol. Filippo. Inzagol uses speed. Geneva 31 May ..well see how the line-up goes.

This is part of the problem really. We can select 22 players, yet really there is about 10 who must go-even if they`re injured. Its stupid, some players are automatic selections Beckham,Gerrard,Lampard et al will all go regardless of their fitness.

We took Beckham last time-same situation as Rooney,he played, but at a poor standard. Even if Rooney goes now,its only gonna be 1 or 2 games before someone takes in out again. Same goes for Owen-then were over there without strikers.

Have I messed up the names badly and maybe shouldn't have noted the two men's legs. Of the three going into to the training camp next week hoping to make the Italian line-up. Inzaghi dives all over the place, but is fast and and aware of where the play is at. whereas the other two tend to use their height/ over their respective speeds to get the job done.

think that they do - esp. w/ those legs who0o. Still to name the third goalkeeper but things can work.

If FIFA agree, do England take a chance and name Rooney in the WC squad, and possibly waste a space, or do they take someone in his place who has a 100% chance of playing but is going to probably be quite rubbish anyway?

I think it was the translation into Americanesque and interspersing of txt spk that threw me!

Inzaghi's lost his pace as well, quite sad to see a former top striker looking like a lost puppy last week.

Saw this earlier.

Also, reading The Independant at lunch and there is a Toshiba advert in there stating that if England win the world cup, you can get a 66% discount on certain Toshiba Notebooks, as long as you purchase within 7 days of them winning the competition!

I'd love England to win, just so Toshiba could get rinsed, but think they are on to a winner there, and don't they know it, especially when you turn the page to see Rooney at the press conference yesterday, leg all mashed up!

Cause and effect! It is entirely plausible IMO. I remember that bastard stopping the milk at school. Lucky our mam made sure we got our quota as nippers I'd say:nod: Never suffered a broken bone through hundreds of crunching tackles meself, but its no thanks to that cunt!

Tell a lie,my own brother once broke my nose during a particularly lively sparring session,I was taking it easy on him because he usually could'nt live with me,and he goes and takes a fuckin liberty with a well executed hard left hook, the twat!:blackeye: Drink your milk kids:thumb:
