... they've got a shite name.
i don't agree with u Al! They've got a great name and they are one of the best american bands from the last 10 years...
They have influenced the Dandy Warhols who are more successful than them. They are ( or should i say Anton Newcombe , their leader) not very known actualy and the reason is maybe Anton Newcombe himself who has, more than once, destroyed his own career!
Their music is somewhere beetween psychedelism and pop music, with a sound infuenced by the best sixties'bands.
They are doing a tour in France these days but ther's no night close to my home so i shall not see them live and it's one of my regrets!
The band has often changed its musicians ( one of the first guitarists is now playing in Black rebel motorcycle)
Ther's a DVD showing the group live and rehearsing, called "DIG" - very very arty and interesting.
Their music is magic, rich and very imaginative.![]()

Isn't that an oxymoron?! Best American bands from the last 10 years?!
That's like saying, "He's the hardest 4 year old I know!"
Er, woo!
a mate of mine is really into them and thinks they're the best thing ever, he leant me their best of or singles collection or whatever it was, they're ok i guess but they didn't get me intrested enough to buy an album by them.
the movie they're in is that one with the dandy warhols on tour can't rememeber what its called though.
That's a great documentary called "Dig". I would give it a shot and show up to the gig if I were you. Even if their music isn't your thing, you might witness an entertaining fistfight or meltdown of some sort although I think Anton has that out of his system by now and was just a gimmick for the movie. I don't personally own any of their music as I just haven't gotten around to it. Not bad stuff, though. I know that they have most of their catalog downloadable for free on their website. Give it a try!

what do u mean ? "une oxymore" in french "oxymore" is a poetical way to join two opposite words or ideas in the same sentence...it was not my intention.
i really like BJTM. And , well, i think there are few american bands quite good ( tout à fait bons!)...
But i can see here your famous english sense of humor
amitiés,Al
i think it's a rather clever name, considering the person and the event it combines.
they're a good band, from what i've heard of them.
