Saw Da Vinci Code last night

I haven't read the book so had no expectations.

I thought the film was really good and will see it again - and I will read the book.

Hmmm...did you think Tom Hanks was good as the lead? Now you've got me curious..

I think you're wise to watch the movie and then read the book. Most of the times, when I read the book, and then see the movie, I'm apt to be disappointed. In this case, I've already read the book, and Tom Hanks is not who I would have picked for Robert Langdon. But perhaps he pulls it off...

Opens here today too, normally we're a bit behind everyone else. I think I read the first chapter on a plane then left the book on the plane (!) so am looking forward to the film. Quite interested how Audrey Tatou carries off her part - every time I see her I just think of that crazy French girl she played in Amelie!

Think you'll enjoy it! Very quirky, some peculiar characters, but a good score and entertaining. If you're a romantic you'll really enjoy it....

So, are you going to see Da Vinci Code this weekend? I think some friends of mine want to see it not this weekend, but the next... I wonder how long the lines will be in San Francisco at the Metreon movie house.

Well, I'm seeing it tonight - should I have read the book first do you reckon? Bit late now!!!

Well all the cinemas here have had the 'prebooking open' ads going for a couple of weeks so I'll have no chance tonight I expect. Maybe tomorrow....or maybe I'll get stuck in the coffee/bookshop

it looks like i'm doing it the wrong way round. I'm half way through the book now.

I saw it last night - have to say I enjoyed it, although it wasnt what I expected. They focused more on the clues and the history than 'blockbuster' type things, so I enjoyed it more.

It good to actually see the painings and sybols and statues they refer to in the book - it makes more sense.

well it can't be any worse than MI3.

How did this end up being about hog dogs?

75% through the book now; the theories in it are very interesting.

Not surprised that the film is crap- It's basically a prolonged car chase with a tonne of conspiracy theory exposition.

I haven't decided if I'm going to go to the movies yet this weekend (gets old going by yourself). If I do go, the plan is to either see the Da Vinci Code or Over the Hedge.

One good thing is that I haven't read the book, so if I go go see Da Vinci, I won't be comparing the movie to the book.

I've read the book and have heard disappointing reviews elsewhere..but I figure it's one of those movies I just have to see anyways for various reasons. besides, I already bought the ticket.. 2 hours till it starts

edit: I also would not have picked tom hanks for the part - or at least NOT with that awful haircut they having him sporting..ugh! I definitely pictured a more clean-cut guy for the part

boy was the film panned, but i'm going to see it as i loved the book and it'll be interesting to see what ron howard did with it. i'm going to wait until the crowds thin out at the theatres, though.

No real interest in seeing, and I'm willing to bet a lot of otherwise apathetic types like myself might be swayed to see it because of all the religious protests against it. If you want to get the word out on your movie, piss off Christians, they'll do all the advertising you would ever want :p

Just came back home from the cinema = DVC. The movie about simple things is made way too complicated, or put it more relevantly, confusing with a lot of cues and abrupt references (to the book?) and the end was very pity. The majority of "idea" films may be judged by the way they end. What a waste of time and money!

Plus all those wankers with their cellphones everywhere. :(
