College Jeopardy...just as dumb as Celebrity Jeopardy

The final question tonight (or "answer"...damn you, Trebek!) was all about commencement addresses, and the clue provided was (paraphrasing):

"In 2005, speaking before his alma mater, he urged his audience to be voracious readers, give back to their commnunity, and stay in Maine."

Let's see..."voracious readers"..."stay in Maine"...I'm guessing it's a writer from Maine. And how many of those do you know of?

Of course the response was Stephen King...but only the last guy got it right. The other two were way off (one guy even said Howard Dean... )

Yes, I really do, in the adult competition. School is conflicting this goal though. The U.S. Jeopardy got rid of the five-day champion rule.

College Jeopardy can't possibly be as dumb as Celebrity Jeopardy. Honestly, though, I can't stand to watch either one because I keep thinking "I'd have $30,000 by now!". I'm sure I'd get crushed in regular Jeopardy though. I've heard a lot of that comes down to having good timing with the buzzer. If you buzz too soon (i.e., before Mr. Trebek finishes talking) it doesn't register and you're locked out for a couple of seconds. I've also heard that Mr. Trebek is a real prick. Big surprise there.

college jeopardy either used to be a lot more difficult OR I used to be a lot more dumb :P :P

though I remember when Millionaire came on in the states and it was a NATIONWIDE PHENOM that Jeopardy dumbed down a bit haha

Yeah, I couldn't stand to watch that show. I watched it once and could have won $500,000! It is Jeopardy dumbed down. I don't know how it came to be so much more popular than Jeopardy. Maybe people Just like Regis better than Alex?

There are more stupid people than smart people. It gave a chance for stupid people to yell at people about how they are idiots. Plus the theatrics. . . ."I chose this answer because my ex-boyfriend had sex with a dolphin once and he noted how they have a blow hole to breathe".

College Jeopardy's categories are too narrow in range, IMHO. Too easy for me. The adult version is more challenging and more interesting, but the Tournament of Champions matches are hard as hell.

The "clue crew" needs to careen into the ocean, imho. That was definitely an attempt to make it more "hip", and it is just annoying as hell.
