G R E E C E 101 - USA 95 (fiba world championship) we are just one step before the gold metal!!! after winning the fiba european championship we are already one of the two best teams in the world. i'm still not sure why the japanese people into the stadium were on the us's side during the game. i think that they forgot theit history forever-too bad for them. anyway the final game is on sunday-fingers cross

What do you mean the Japanese forget history? What does history have to do with whom they root for?? Maybe you're implying that they should root for the favorite and that based on recent international results, Greece should be favored over the US. That is faulty reasoning, though. Greece probably should have been favored over the US, but that doesn't mean the Japanese should root for them. America is very popular in Japan. I was also shocked that they cut Bruce Bowen, one of our best defenders, who would not have fallen for the pick and roll as easily as today's players did. Keep in mind, though, that the US's main focus is winning the Olympics in 2008, not in winning these World Championships, which is why a young team was chosen.

I'm sure you'd not have posted anything on this if the US had won. Anyway, congratulations to Greece, they deserved it. However, I think they'll have a very tough time against Spain (though I thought Argentina would beat Spain, so that shows you what I know!) so don't count on that World Championship just yet!

why not to post? read what we done in basketball history until today. how metals we got in europe and how many forth places in the world. we have too choose players between 10 million people and us between some hundreds millions. for hte final game i'm sure that is a european matter and that shows were the basketball goes after all

My main point was that your reasoning as to why the Japanese should root for Greece made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Yes, Europe is now the top continent for international basketball. No argument here.

ofcourse but it's more than this - i really enjoy watching the NBA and i can't forget players like Doc J-Magic-Lary Bird-Air Jordan and so many from the 80's and early 90's and after today's scores i'm happy cause spain and greece show that today's NBA players are just overestimated

Lots of reasons the US lost. The roster was OK, but the rest of the world has caught up to the US in terms of talent, such that we can no longer just throw players together who aren't used to playing together, and expect them to beat everybody. It was bound to happen sooner or later. Rembember, England used to be tops in football. This team is supposed to play together up till the Olympics, and by then they should be much better as a team. I'm sure they expected to beat Greece (most here thought it would be Argentina or the US winning) so overconfidence probably also played a roll.

I used to love the NBA but I've lost interest. I don't like most of todays' players, I don't like the way they play. No teamwork anymore.

Actually, I said that I myself don't enjoy the NBA as much as I used to. I don't know if the same is true of America in general, though I do think it has probably dipped a little bit in popularity, and I know many people dislike many of the things that I mentioned, such as players not knowing how to play a team game. Today's game is a bunch of one on one garbage.

ok-i'm really sorry of mentioning this. about the today one one garbage-for us it is really difficult to defend one on one to american players because of physical and also body structure- so i think that tere was some teamwork from greece
