I suppose my dear old VCR is useless now for recording off of the digital box?

Can I still play like my Playstation 2 thru the digital box?

Your old vcr can still be used. Either connect the output of the digibox to it the way you would normally connect the antena, and then watch TV through the VCR as you would have previously. OR if the digibox has two outputs, either RF, composite, svideo or SCART, connect one to the television and the other to the VCR.

Very few satellite or cable decoders feature an auxilliary input for your PS2, however there is no reason you cannot still connect it to one of the additional inputs on your television (or vcr).

Usually, the digital cable receiver can be programmed to change channel and turn on and off to record a program. As the previous post indicated the receiver should have both coaxial and A/V output jacks also commonly called RCA. It might also have S-Video output, useful only if your VCR has the input which is unlikely. A DVD recorder might give you a few more options depending on its inputs and the receiver's outputs, such as S-Video, possibly component video. Unfortunately, you can't watch anything else in the meantime. Attaching the cable directly to the TV or VCR without going through the digibox will probably provide the same channels that you currently have without the digital service allowing you to split the signal in order to watch channels from the digital receiver and allow you to record an old channel on the VCR, or vice versa. Splitting the signal however may result in significant signal loss. By the way, don't necessarily expect a better signal from the digital service since most of the old channels probably won't be digital.

Basically, you'll be able to tape what you're watching. You might be able to split the cable in order to tape old channels while watching the new ones, or watch the old and tape the new ones.

You should definitely be able to record one thing with your VCR while watching another. May take a bit of doing to figure it out, though.

i have dish network digital cable, and have my VCR & A DVD Recorder hooked up and all are able to reord from the tv, i also have the PS2 hooked up, no problems at all, are they installing it or are you doing it yourself? if they install it they will take care of everything

I will let them do all the work...I am hopeless around electronics. As long as it turns on and behaves, all is well!!
