All adverts for financial services, or legal services, and a dozen other things state "not available to NI scum" on their ads, despite being an allegedly "UK" company. I pay my taxes to Her Majesty, I WORK for her bloody HomeOffice FFS! You can't put "no blacks" on a sign, but "no dogs, no irish" is still allowed, it seems a bit rough to me.
The free gifts thing was stretching it a bit. But the maddest thing is the ASDA advert saying "we know the cows our milk comes from" and "excludes NI" pops up at the bottom of the screen...that's just strange.
Oh, and a point of order, Dr Fradley, you are labouring under the same delusion as most of my so-called alster pratastant bretherin.....NI, and Ulster are NOT synonymous, as the provence of Ulster actually contains 3 couties which belong to the Republic of Ireland. But I cannot very well hold that against you as so many folks here don't even comprehend it.
Funny.. usually the same happens here, Quebec is always excluded of all those things.
But this is strictly because in Quebec we don't use the Common Law, like in all other provinces, but we use the Napoleon Code (updated of course), one of the few things with religion England allowed us to keep when they conquered us.
For some reason, contests in Quebec requires a skill question to declare a winner, not in other provinces.. so for some people people doing nationwide contests excluse Quebec because they don't want to deal with the madatory skills question. ![]()
Yes, telephone lotteries are ileagal in all of the UK, therefor they have to ask a question. That's why the questions are usually.....
"what planet do we live on.... A. Mars. B. Raxicorical phalapatorias C. Earth" (calls charged at £2/min)
BTW, my October mission is costing me at least £1000 in total I should think, although I have not done the sums.

To be honest Steve, I think you could probably live without said legal and financial services: less 'racism', more blessing in disguise I would've thought??!
Oh, and point taken about NI/Ulster!
Well, yes, I tend to agree, it's mainly ambulancechasers.co.uk and loansharksrus.com
Still, such idiot farmers are ddoing themselves out of a thriving population of morons over here. Mayhaps they are just scared that when they get found out they'll get their knees done :D
Yes, London is expensive, but doesn't need to be. There are plenty of places where you can eat and drink cheaply and not be surrounded by scumbags, you just have to want to find them! The problem is that the average price is higher than elsewhere. A beer will cost you at least £3 in most places in central London, I hate to think what takeaway food costs these days. Do not use taxis though, they will very quickly eat up all your spending money and you will only get frustrated stuck in the interminable traffic jams!

Nice reference...... :D

Yeah, that sounds right. Your biggest expense will be pubs in London, but it isn't expensive at the prices you gave i.e. equivalent in dollars. A pint of beer is about £3.80 in the centre, but if you see and Wetherspoons they are a bit cheaper.
Like JT says Indian restaurants are usually reasonable and in Pizza Express it will be £7-8 for the actual pizza, but it is all the extras add up. Starbucks is about £2.50-£3 for a capp or latte.
Make sure you avoid using a taxi, the prices are evil
Bad news on the taxi. Are there some kind of weekly pass for the Tube?
I'll check that when I'll be home.. I need to find the best way to move myself then!
You can get a 3 day or 7 day card for the tube. 3 day one is just under £20, but you'll have to wait til you are in London to get it as you are too late to buy online (ysterday I was looking and it would only allow me to book one from the 27th onwards)
I don't know if you still need a photo to get one of those, I know you used to.

Nah, you don't need a photo anymore to buy one of these new Oyster cards.
