and i really can't be arsed with it, but apparently it's crucial for module 1 and 6 of my AS level

really can't be bothered with stuff like standing in a freezing cold river all day and measuring the width and depth

picking the occasional rock out of the river and measuring it and stuff like that

roll on wednesday night when i'll be back home

Last school geography field trip I went was mainly drinking, smoking hash and three in a bed romps. And that was just the teachers.

i remember when we used to do this sort of thing in school. we always made lots of noise, so we wouldn't have to count the wildlife. :)

we used to do this stuff at summer camp, in between singing kumbaya around a fire and 'bonding'.

Fucking hell. Kids today.

Field trips are great, it were an excuse to get out of school. hell, I even went on a religious one once. Interesting one that was, one of the girls got taken to hospital after getting alcohol poisoning and decorating the wall an interesting shade of green. Another of the lads got expelled for smuggling the booze in.

Another one was the trip to france, where my mate Ben got sent home (no shit, his parents had to drive to the South of France to pick him up) after smacking this lad from another school. Amazingly, as well as being sent home, the onyl other punishement he got was a two day suspension and he got banned from a subsequent trip to Alton Towers.

You can tell i went to Catholic School. Sneaking booze into a religious retreat= Expulsion. Physically Assauting People= Suspension.

I once went on a MATHS field trip to the peak district.

The BASTARD of a teacher took us all to the pub on the first night, bought us all a blackcurrant juice and told the landlord to remember our faces in case we tried to sneak back. Which we did. And he did.

How the fuck can you have MATHS field trip?

Last school field trip I went on was down to the bogs ("moors") near St Austell (Snozzle to the locals!) Panned for tin for three days solid in rivers and it just rained, so bleedin hard we had to pack it in because the water level got over the tops of our wellies. :nonono: Not exactly Skookum Jim in the Klondike!

Went on one to London for a weekend in the 80's.I'd crashed a milk float into a telegraph pole on the morning so was glad to get away.

The teacher took us to see Arsenal V Newcastle of all matches, and we had missiles thrown at our bus..I wanted to get out and say "I am under no circumstances a Magpie!" to the mob..Best part was Gazza missing a penalty:nod:

When I got home the police were waiting,by which time we concocted a story that the milkman himself trashed the float,as his job was on the line..But I had to lie to my Dad aswell, and I felt bad about that.I told him years later mind

Edit: Also went on a proper geography one to Glaisdale doing a feasiblilty study on the pros and cons of building a damn there..Found a nice spot by the river and had a shag, only my third one ever..We did'nt call it doggin back then. But yes, doggin is doggin:laugh:

Field trips are ace! One of the best chances to get away from your folks for a while and run riot! (Especially if there's another school in your building. New girls to oggle!).

Mind, wouldn't have been as much fun if yer Geography teacher looked this hard! :eek3:

i'm not taking my geography students on a field trip this year (i don't think), partly because i'm on medical leave until january and partly because EPCOT's countries are so overdone. they have special tailored geography field trips at disney, but as i see disney as mostly a place to play and not very geographically accurate (except the workers are from the respective countries) i don't think it's a very good idea.

the little kids (4th graders) go up to st. augustine, the oldest city in america, so that's out of the question for my students. and the rest of florida is a flat wasteland infested with alligators (more or less) so i don't want to take them anywhere, though i used to take my 9th graders to tarpon springs, which is a greek community on the gulf that survives by diving for sponges. it's kind of a boring place, though. i used to take them to the greek orthodox cathedral, which is built like hagia sofia in istanbul, explain the church to them, and talk to them about greek orthodoxy (which we studied, anyway). then the science teacher would 'recommend' the sponge museum, but most of the kids would just eat gyros and shop for the rest of the day.

measure a stick and whack the teacher with it.

in 5th grade, my teacher was weird, she used to take us out for a walk around the block near the school. i didn't quite understand it. i heard this song coming from someone's house and actually liked it. spent a week trying to figure out the lyrics to it. it was always museums....

I went to a week-long geography trip across the state when I was in the eighth grade. Glad you have a swell time, Jack. Traveling is fun. :thumb:
