It’s how he would like to be remembered, smiling and young, playing brilliant football. Mind you, the last thing you want on a banknote is some bearded drunk with some bird’s blood on his knuckles.

There’s about fifteen banks in Norn Oirland, and they all print their own banknotes. This means that there are about a hundred different note designs and therefore it’s not such an event when someone makes it onto a note.

Indeed, I myself was featured on the tenner issued by the city centre branch of the Royal Ulster Bank about ten years ago – qualifying for the honour under the ‘Grandparent’ rule.
