i love that 419 eater website! i first heard about it on a TV documentary a few years back and i linked the site on here then when comrade posted a similar e-mail he'd received. i'd love to pursue these people who send the e-mails to me in the same way but i've neither the guts nor the cunning.

I seen some of their work, fucking priceless...one guy exchanged about 50 emails, and even snail mails with this scammer, even got the guy to send a copy of his passport and all. remember these scumbags are stupid enough to think foilks will fall for these, so if you pretend to do so, they swallow, hook line and sinker.

All spammers should by rights be treated this way, it is esteimated that if people replied to 10% of their spam, the smappers machines would bukckle under the replies and they'd give up.

Recently I've been gettinng "delivery status notification error" mails from funny addresses. I honestly do not know if some cunt is sending spam with a slightlynarrow return address, or if the failure notices are phishing for me to reply to validate my address.

I wonder how many of us got this one?

Yeah, the wind-up was excellent - I think it was featured on a recent Graham Norton show? Anyway, what they did was to ask for photographic evidence of the people sending the mails, with them holding up signs that they'd requested them to write...

The latest thing I've been getting is stupid stock tips. The idea is that some people follow the tips, buy the stock which raises the price by a few pennies and the spammers sell for a profit.

The amount of spam sent is so huge that they only need a very small response rate to make it worth while.

I get at least 50 spam emails a day, about half to my NOOL address. It's a proper pain in the arse deleting them all and more than once I've deleted things I wanted to read by mistake. Email to my own domain is effectively useless.

On the plus side, I can use it as an excuse for not replying to GlasVegas

I was plagued by those. Someone has harvested your @slightly narrow.whatever address from a website where it was on display and is using it to send spam by just putting a different name infront of the @.

I had a dig through my ISP's page about e-mail and managed to find an option to 'disable Delivery Status Notification messages' which has taken a great weight off my inbox.

yeah i put a delivery status failure bounce back on all my chrissmari.org accounts other than chrissy@ and it's really helped the spam.
