Ahhh, speak of the devil, here's one now for you, Snorri. I'll reply on your behalf forthwith :thumb: (No, no, my good man, no need to thank me!)...

Attn: Friend,

Greeting!

I humbly crave your indulgence in sending you this mail,if the contents does not meet with your personal and business ethics,I appologise in advance. this is by virtue of its nature as being utterly "CONFIDENTIAL AND TOP SECRET". Though I know that a transaction of this magnitude will make any one apprehensive and worried, but I am assuring you that all will be well at the end of the day.

I have decided to contact you due to the urgency of this transaction, as I have been reliable informed of your discreteness and ability in transaction of this nature. Let me start first, introduce myself properly to you.I am Mr. Martin Jones, of Dept of Bill and Exchange with African Development Bank. I need your consent to handle this transaction because it entails large amount of funds($6.5 Million Dollars) deposited by a deceased customer in our bank who died long time ago but has an open beneficiary mandate on his file though, there has not been anyone from his family to make claim of this funds but i am sure he has no immediate family because i have tried all i could to contact them but to no avail.

THE PROPOSITION:

I wish to know if we can work together.I would like you to stand as next of kin to my deceased client, who was among the people that lost their life in Egypt air crash 990 ,some 8 years ago with the wife.

http://news.bbc. co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/502503.stm

He made some deposits to my bank, and died without any registered next of kin and as such the funds now have an open beneficiary mandate.More over it appears you are related to him by the virtue of your names.

If you are interested you do let me know so that I can give you comprehensive details on what we are to do.

I urgently hope to get your response

Best regards,

Martin Jones.

I get these weekly from our African friends. Didnt read it was anything to do with NOOL. This reminds me of all the classic letters one used to get from Nigeria in the eighties.

I did email one back saying i could send a bag of rice, but no response:shrug:

Edit: Actually there was an article in the Evening Standard recently about a bloke who had asked all these people to take and email a current photo of themselves holding a card, with a message decided by the receiver of the email (i.e. the attempted con). This was done to prove 'authenticity' The result was pictures of Africans holding up white cards with nasty messages on them. I can't remember the exact wording but they were along the lines of 'Hi, I'm a Conman C___'

I added an extra word there for comic effect.

Recently I've been gettinng "delivery status notification error" mails from funny addresses. I honestly do not know if some cunt is sending spam with a slightlynarrow return address, or if the failure notices are phishing for me to reply to validate my address.

I was plagued by those. Someone has harvested your @slightly narrow.whatever address from a website where it was on display and is using it to send spam by just putting a different name infront of the @.

I had a dig through my ISP's page about e-mail and managed to find an option to 'disable Delivery Status Notification messages' which has taken a great weight off my inbox.

Problem is, my mail is all done locally. I suppose that makes it easier in a way, but it means manuals instead of brightly coloured diagrams on help pages

I supose I could just set a local filter to stick "failure" messages in the bin.

We get em in work smoetimes, I like to play....

"Dear sir, you have sent unsolicited "spam" mail, proposing a clearly fraudulant transaction, to a secure UK govt. Facility, your mail, name, and IP address, as well as your exact location in Nigeria, have been passed along to the Brittish intelligence services ( QUIET AT THE BACK THERE!), who will no doubt persue this matter vigourously.

Not so funny is mails we get from guys who are just checking with s before they send some random chick (hugely inflated sums of) money for her "UK passport" to get out of Nigeria to come and live happily ever after with them. I don't like breaking hearts.
