He's not exactly well liked by adults who read about him in the media, where as young adults/teens seem to worship him. I don't worship him, I just feel sorry for him. Some people want him to drop dead. What does everyone else think?

I wish he was a dead twat....

I don't know his music, but from what I read about him he comes off like an even less likable version of Liam Gallagher

And you'll notice no one's talking about Liam anymore without him having to drop dead.

I would never wish death upon a pop star, just career death :thumb:

never heard his music either. not too big outside the UK presumably. let him vanish into a drug coma. don't want someone that useless to end up looking like a martyr.

Boring junkie.

The sad thing is, he's even shit at the one thing he's famous for. Can't take a few drugs without involving everyone else and fucking his life up.

Lightweight :nono:

Late again! Everyone has already said it. He is in fact, a twat.

He's supremely talented at drawing attention to himself. Over-rated musician and songwriter, complete wanker of a person, junkie trash.

I stand corrected. THAT'S what I wanted to say.

It's a bit depressing that he is that way, though really. You've got to feel slightly sorry for him in that respect.

Not me :hi:

Errrrr.....why? You are generally what you are, because you have made yourself that way!

Kill the elastic shite.

I heard one of his B-side tracks. I didn't like it, and I just don't like him as a person. The guy is asking for trouble, and even worse, an early death.

complete waste of genetic material

To be honest I like the stuff he writes and think he's got great talent.

His media profile obviously leaves a lot to be desired but to quote Hooky "he's obviously a very troubled character" and that's what I see in him.

Whether what you read about him in the press is fair or not is debatable as well. There are a couple of musicians who are lauded and branded for their drug habits, however if you find out gossip there are plenty who get left in peace by the press who have equally iniquitous lifestyles.

Do you think his media profile and lifestyle could be a product of his record company and some PR machine or is he genuinely just some addled musician who can come up with a good song every now and then ?

I think you hit the nail on the head about the press, they manufacture situations over in the UK more often than actually reporting what goes on. It sells, all this rock-star-drug-early-death crap, and while Doherty has a problem with drugs to be sure, it does stand to reason that his reputation could have a lot to do with the British music/tabloid press' obsession with "naughty" rock stars. There's a demand for "rock stars behaving badly", and the music and tabloid press (because at times it's hard to distinguish between the two) would be remiss if they didn't supply it.

That being said, he's probably going to be a corpse by the end of the year :dead:

anyone can be a junkie, right? As for the Libertines, I liked their music bu nothing spectacular. Perhaps someone could explain why his music and personae are so popular amongst teenagers and young adults? With all the usual media I read it's difficult to avoid Pete's woes but why do people care just about PETE? There are probably several hundred more junkies who are twice as talented in my hometown of 25,000.

Aye tis a beautiful song. click

The thing about Pete is the inevitability of disaster. He reminds me a little bit of Gazza; fucking useless at anything regular in life but with a talent that he constantly degrades.

The press are even laying off him now to some extent, because they know the inevitability of it all. Unfortunately he's a dead man walking. The recent 'guy falling out of his window dead' story was not very well covered, although with Barrymore the press went to town.

Fair fucks to Kate Moss trying to get him back on the straight and narrow. But after seeing him injecting an already comatose girl reveller with heroin,I've not a lot of time for him. As an artist he's no better.KILAMANGIRO is alright but probably because it bears a passing resemblance to much better JAM song. And his performance at LIVE 8 was excruciatingly awful.

Is a cock. And she's even worse for sticking with him.

his band isn't even famous over here, yet he's on all the gossip and entertainment shows. WTF?
