Yeah, that always puzzles me when there's something on the news about him, yet when was the last time his band had a song on the radio over here?
I guess our pop stars aren't interesting enough for the tabloids anymore. C'mon, we started this whole rock and roll lifestyle! Aren't you ashamed, American pop stars? Have you no sense of patriotism?

Um, I didn't mean I'm a vampire wanna be goth, I meant why are you under the impression that rock & roll didn't start in America? Feel free to bring jazz, the blues, R&B, and country into the discussion as you see fit...
...and bluegrass, soul, hip hop.
Stop me when I get to one that didn't come from America....
Rock and roll was born of the marriage between blues and country, beginning sometime in the late Forties and finding its first real exposure through artists like Chuck Berry, Bill Haley, Fats Domino, and others, and made massive by Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Little Richard, and so on. All of whom were American or found their biggest success here in the States, before the Beatles came around.
So yes, rock and roll is an American tradition, but it's got international components as well. It began in the States, though
