One of the funniest fellas ever to appear on telly. Absolute treasure. RIP John.

In the spirit of balance, you could argue that he was the worst kind of airy-fairy poofter stereotype, the kind that helped set back gay civil rights about four decades.

It's very sad, but give me Kenneth Williams any day!!

Thanks for that, Ron.

Will his new catchphrase be "I'm dead!"?

Ah, yes, you may be right there :\ohwell:

I'm always mixing up raving queens from 70's TV :skeptic:

Shame, cos it was a good gag

Expect to see it come out again when Larry pops his clogs

I am actually familiar with his work. The name just didn't ring a bell. Are You Being Served never did much for me.

Each to their own.

His final appearance came at the 1994 Royal Variety Performance, when his parting words were his most famous catchphrase "Shut that door!". Larry died in January, 1997 and his funeral was held in his beloved Nuneaton.

10 years too early.

BUGGER.

Incidently,Jimmy Saville runs marathans looking exactly like John in that pick, but no....nobody accuses Fix it features of setting gay civil rights back forty years :nono:

Where's the justice for the millions Jimmy never fixed it for?

Were you one of the ones he fucked off, when you thought your letter was'only the start of it"

Was never really a fan, but at least he was out there doing his thing, which is probably as much as could be hoped for in the 70's. Openly acting gay on TV was bravery enough back then...
