Seeing as the biggest crime in the history of NOOL has been committed recently, now seems an appropriate time to discuss who would be the ideal person to solve the case.

Firstly... Where is our resident super sleuth's Tim's profile on the 'perp'?
Secondly... and possibly more importantly will Dick van Dyke be wearing his roller skates while solving the crime?

It looks like our criminal is up against a formidable team... even though he isnt strictly from TV, i'd like to add:

Without a shadow of a doubt Columbo, he's the best ever. I love watching that show, he's the funniest detective ever and his lazy eye means he's the only one I can do as a party trick!
Its a fact of life that Mark Sloan is the most accomplished policeman in TV history. This is a a brief description of his accomplishments:
Dr. Mark Sloan: Mark is a surgeon at Community General Hospital. He's been in medicine over 40 years and now is the Chief of Internal Medicine. Not only that, but he is a teaching doctor and teaches the interns - which at one time included Dr. Jack Stewart and now includes Dr. Jesse Travis. He is also a consultant for the Police Department and helps investigates murder cases. Mark's father was a cop or as Mark once said he comes from "A long line of cops". That he is the black sheep of the family, but his son, Steve is carrying on the family tradition by becoming a Homicide Detective. He also has a daughter, Carol, whom he hasn't seen in over 6 years, but has recently been reunited with again. She is a nurse. He has an older sister, Dora, who owns a travel agency. He has a younger brother, Stacey, who owns a malt shop in Arkansas and has a tendency to sleepwalk. He is also a widow. His wife's name is Katherine and she died a little over 10 yrs ago from cancer. He has never remarried. Mark likes Jazz and Glenn Miller. He can play many instruments, and likes to dance and sing - both the soft shoe and tap! He rollerskates and scooters around the hospital and crime is his hobby! He also is into magic and slight of hand, the best way he sees into entertaining children in the hospital! He's the silent partner of BBQ Bob's.
I miss the original Taggart. Not the same quality since he died. Other than that, I never missed an episode of Frost 
Oh and I love Dalziel & Pascoe, Dalziel in particular. Get big Andy on the case !

NEVER understood that....how can the guy be dead and still have the show named after him?
It's like if JD had been just a backing band and had been billed as "Ian Curtis", then continued on under that name post 18/05/80.

What about Magnet & Steele ? These were the crime fighting duo that Max (Peter Kay) told Paddy about during an episode of max & Paddy. Max had even made cartoons about the duo and written scripts for them. Spin-off from a Spin-off from a spin-off anyone?

Isn't that what happened to Blakes 7 after the first series? I only started watching that when the second series began, and kept wondering - where the fcuk is this Blake bloke? 
I'm gonna plump for the sipowitz and simone partnership on NYPD blue, after simone left it went down hill fast.
The CSI team. The LV version, not the other two because Caruso's character is ridiculously, pretentiously, over-sincere and Sinese's just seems plain creepy.
Or the daytime TV 'tec trio of Jessica Fletcher, er, the one played by Dick van Dyck in diagnosis murder, and Monk, the one with OCD.
(When I found myself in a position to watch a lot of daytime TV recently, it struck me how well it knows how to flatter its target daytime audience, cf the above three - one older woman with her small town US heartland homespun wisdom, one near-retirement age doctor, and one guy off work on disability. All thats missing is Joe Giro, PI - the dole detective, who solves crimes in between signing on - but can never accept payment from those he helps in case it affects his entitlement to benefit).

My vote would be Regan and Carter from The Sweeney. The original and best '70's blagger catching, womanising and booze binging coppers ever brought to the screen and they soon show Gene Hunt/Life On Mars to 'SHUT IT!' LOL! Cheers!

Given that the original question was who would be best to solve the great NOOL emails of mass disruption mystery, I think all of the above would be a bit out of our league. I reckon Chief Wiggum from the Simpsons would do, he'd be about our level.
