get the 3121 bit of the password, but what's the LBZ bit in between the numbers?

Ummm, yeah, I knew that. Not sure why that fact is relevant to my post though.

I was just saying that the whole concept of a "Greatest Hits Farewell Tour" or for that matter, a Las Vegas nightclub residency is very un-Prince. In his "no compromise" heyday he wouldn't have had to resort to such tactics to shift tickets/product and make a living.

thought you were still working on premise that he was going for 21 nights at large cap venues.

this is it for europe so would think that you'd get a few over from europe.

the thread about it on drowned in sound is turning into a classic

Ultimately, every act will end up this way. As mentioned, his last decent album was some time again, the first when he changed his name? But he's had little going for him since then.

I think most artists only have a lifespan of about a decade before they go off the rails and dont continue to offer the quality they had to start with.

I dont like them, but off the top of my head the only band i can think of that surpassed that was U2.

No doubt someone will list loads of them now!

Don't waste your money people. I saw him in manchester about 4 years ago. He played raspberry beret and about 45 seconds of alphabet street, the rest was jazz/funk/cack. To coin a phrase- he was fucking wank :-) x

Prince £31-a-ticket shows sell out in minutes By ALEXA BARACAIA and ANDRE PAINE -

More than 140,000 tickets for Prince’s London concerts this summer sold out within 20 minutes, causing the internet booking site to crash.

Organisers immediately added a further six concerts at the O2 Arena - the former Millennium Dome - and these were also expected to sell fast.

Within an hour some fans were selling £31.21 tickets - capped by Prince in a ground-breaking move to make them affordable to everyone - on eBay at five times the asking price.

A tour insider said: “It sold out even quicker than we could have anticipated. Prince is in London meeting his promoters to discuss what dates could be organised next.”

In all, he will play 21 dates in London.

Say what you want about him,but 140,000 tickets in 20 mins :eek3:

Surely that says something more telling (and disturbing) about the British people than it does about Prince?

The little purple gimp does have a massive fan base, he has been selling new tracks via his website for ages AND has still been earning over $5m a year just from website sales, i think i saw it on mtv or vh1 and that was a few years ago!

23,000 seated. More if they allow standing!

I think he has seriously oversold himself.

Still, short man syndrome, eh?

ah, yes. napoleon syndrome. but you have to give the little man some credit--he is one of the most fantastic performers around.

however, i do agree with you. 21 nights???
