As you might remember, last christmas i returned to my car to find someone had wiped the rear end out and left without giving a fuck.

Well, i found out who it was and it was all sorted. I claimed through the insurance, bought a replacement and my insurance company recovered their money from the third party.

So today i get a letter to renew my insurance policy, and because i claimed last year its DOUBLED!!!, and they want nearly £1200.

Cheeky fuckin bastards, someone hits me and Norwich Union think im gonna pay the price.

Actually, writes a pedant, the law only requires that you have third party insurance to cover your potential liability should you cause damage to someone else's property when driving your motor car.

The decision to extend the cover to include protection for your own car is entirely optional.

Indeed, you may opt only for insurance that covers your losses in the event of criminal or combustion activities (sometimes refered to as Fire and Theft) or extend further to cover losses that are as a result of your own carelessness (also called Comprehensive Insurance).

I have prepared a presentation to illustrate this matter further, they can be viewed in the NOOL reception for the next two weeks.

Hope this helps.

F***. I was insured with Norwich Union in 2005 and I was lucky that I was with Sainsbury's Bank in 2004 when some dosy cow almost totalled my Escort in Trafford Park Asda when she reversed into me without looking in the car park. Shop around Steve as you've been involved in a non fault claim which shouldn't affect your no claims anyway and they're taking the p*** with that quote which at most should be around £700-800 even if you had points on your licence. Cheers!:thumb:

Funnily enough we've just been talkin at work just how wank Norwich Union are!

Remember, the commercial "quote me happy" ?

Why has it suddenly changed to a different catchphrase?

It might have something to do with them putting their prices up 40% For every kind of insurance!

no one may want to hear this, but i ran into the back of a parked car once. it tore up the whole front end of the car, but no damage to the insides thankfully. it just looked like i hit a huge trashcan instead of the backend of a van. left a tiny fucking scratch on that van-not even noticeable unless you put yer face right up into it. and i still had to give my information to the fuckers.

On the 8th Feb this year, I was sat at my desk at work and there was a bit of a commotion at the other side of the office.

I realised that everybody at the window was now looking at me. Some dickhead in a window van had tried getting round a tight corner and hit my car, which was parked in the end bay. A frame at the back of the van went into my boot and the force of it actually lifted my car out of the parking space.

The guy then drove off. Luckily I had 2 witnesses that saw the incident and memorised the number plate. I reported it to the police, who weren't really interested. I have only just now, almost 3 months later had any progress.

Insurance companies have to write letters to each other and as a result it is a lengthy process. The annoying thing is that the driver has denied all responsibility. This means that I have to pay my £200 excess, and hopefully my insurance company can recover this when they sue.

I feel like going round and bricking their bloody windows. What's the point in drawing it out when there's witnesses?

I'm not sure if its different over there, but in the US, Insurance companies can only raise your rates if you are considered 50% or higher at fault.

I fortunately have a great insurance company. When an illegal alien blewthrough a red light, at twice the posted speed limit, without a driver's license, insurance, etc. and since there were no witnesses, mostinsurance companies claim it as 50/50. I talked mine into a 49/51, so it kept my rates from rising.

Might want to try that out.:)
