It's a misconception that fast=sexy to a geek

A well installed P133 with 128 MB of ram can be an excellent porn machine!

BTW.....while looking for nvidia drivers on Gentoo (searching for "nv").......

Just why do you feel the need to try and impress us with your computer knowledge every month or so?

You ask for machine names related to sci-fi then go way Fac9000, nearly as bad as the "OrderofJoy" moniker, I use elsewhere (amazed no-one else got to it 1st). Why not name it after 1 of the greatest machine minds in sci-fi? Plenty to chose from, e.g. KillingTime, ProblemChild, PeaceMakesPlenty, ShootThemLater, SleeperService, HonestMistake, EthicsGradient, DeathAndGravity, GreyArea A.K.A Meatfucker, ("~My name would be something like Grey Area in your language. What gives me the right to crawl inside your brains, as you put it, is the same thing that gave you the right to do what you did to those you murdered; power. Superior power. Vastly superior power in my case"), AttitudeAdjuster, QuietlyConfident, AnticipationOfANewLoversArrival, AddedValue, TacticalGrace, SteelyGlint, SeriousCallersOnly, EndInTears, DifferentTan. "Child, there were names appearing there I hadn't seen for five centuries. Some of those Minds are legends!". But if you still want the numerals and JD/NO reference at least go with FateAmenableToChange, 9000. The point (of this post) being of course, if you want (adult) sci-fi, then for fuck sake read some Iain. M. Banks "Culture" Novels, then read Ian Banks non genre books, if books were music his would be Joy Division (with shades of Velvet Underground). Honestly, do yourself a favour, get a hold of "Use Of Weapons" or "Consider Phlebas" or "Excession". You'llThankMeLater.

Edit: P.S http://www.futurehi.net/phlebas/text/ships.html Went trawling Banks after above post, this lists every ship (minds) name (suppose you'd have to know Banks to get it/them, but maybe not).

I think I'll call mine Holly, the female version, as it often doesn't do quite what i want it to. Well that is prolly due to I d ten T error.

Holly is in the middle.

I saw FAC9000 suggested, and reasoned thus.....

The HAL 9000 series machines, installed with female personalities were designated "SAL" despite this not being at all related to the origin of HAL (Heuristically ALgorythmic....and NOT as some speculate, because it's one letter ahead of I B M).

So, one serving a New Order fan, should be given the designation FAC9000. Especially after I think of some good Hooky noises for startup and shutdown samples.

Use some bass rackets. Particularly for the startup. Shutdown, well, it's up to you.

My current PC has a blue case and was delivered on a Monday so naturally its called...'the computer'.

Previous one should have been called power (-surge) (drive-) corruption and fries.
