Higher still is the probability that $MAJOR_PC_RETAILER stuffed the box with cack and ran it all off a power supply that couldn;t handle a scalectrix. HD's cost £50-60, as time passes, the size you get for that changes, a simple law.

In fact I have a Maxtor 80GB I removed in error (the problem was an overheating PSU (it's fan had failed) going outside tolerable voltage and failing the drive. Jem's welcome to it if the HD's the problem (I even have a shipping box). (note: offer open only to Jem, the rest of you vultures can avert your eyes from my precious parts bin).

I assume that someone with a university degree in an enginerring subject, who's willing to damp proof her own home, is capapble of removing 3 screws and a card, then reversing said operation.

I'm shocked and dismayed that nobody's made any reference to having Hicksy roundly whipped.

Doctor's thoughts for the day......

1. USB is NOT designed as a network interface.
2. If it aint got an RJ45 plug....don't trust it.
3. There's a reason ethernet is as old as the hills, and just keeps getting sped up, it works.

I'd consider it, Jemma: if that lass off an early series of Big Brother can make a career out of taking it up the shitter in front of a cameraman then I'm sure you'd make enough for a new PC after a couple of flicks dressed up with a whip and a gimp mask.

Is it plugged in?

The main advantages for buying a computer these days are they're cheap and very power saving.

What sort of frame rate are you getting in Doom3 with that? Is it "vista ready"

(more likely my new uberbox will end up performing like the above when I test vista on it)
