I was ill yesterday - some sort of tummy bug, which is how I came to be sat in front of the telly, dozing off from time-to-time. My interpretation of what I saw might therefore be a little affected. In fact, I can make no sense of it at all so will just list the facts as I recall them.

Jasper Carrot presents the show in a suit Very confident and articulate members of the public act as contestants Golden balls are arranged on perspex tubes between each contestant Each contestant takes turns in revealing some of their balls (to no small amount of inuendo from la carotte) The balls are revealed by turning them, then opening them up to reveal an amount of money, or the word Killer Whatever the content of the ball, the audience claps wildly and the contestant says something about how happy they are At certain points, pre-recorded clips of the contestants appear at the side of the screen. They say things like "I will lie, cheat or whatever, I want this more than anything". This certainly introduces a sinister aspect to the game (if, indeed, it is a game). Other contestants claim to be planning an honest strategy. Then there's an extended discussion about what might be in the unrevealed balls. Carrot becomes quite animated and says things like "do you fancy Chris's balls" and there is much talk of the killers (or maybe it's the Killers, it is starting to look like the work of Brandon Flowers after a couple of sherries. All that gold lame.). Then a really good-looking blonde girl walks on and has a quiet word with each of the contestants and, following some adverts for mobility scooters, one of the contestants disapears from the game. He walks away from the stage looking really pissed off, then gives a bitter interview where he blames everyone else.

Has anyone else seen this? What the fuck is it all about?

It's on again!

A daily show.

It's called golden balls. (Their lower case, not mine.)

I'll be watching the credits like a hawk - I bet £40 Brandon Flowers is responsible.

Even though the object of the game seems to be to 'get rid of those Killers', it's not a bad bit of publicity, eh?

I too saw this for the first time yesterday.

The bird got voted off first (after being 2-0 down, but then pulling it back to 2-2 with some fat lad in a purple shirt). But the other two contestants decided to vote her off anyways cos she had a 3rd Killer. Whatever that meant? Fcuk me, she look sour-faced.

Not entirely sure what it was all about though.

Isn't Jasper Carrott a multi-millionaire cos of something he invested in? I forget what. Why the hell is he doing this show then?

Carrot has just said "this is going to be a really interesting game".

Surely it's against the law for him to tell lies like that on the television?

We should do a poll on who'd give his daughter one

Didn't he 'discover' Phil Cool?

I was on Bentley's Gayspace site earlier. Cracking version of EGG on there.

Being off sick is alright every now and again, innit?

Sounds about as gay as the "Pirate Master"...

The best bit is at the end when the two finalists have to choose whether to take all of the winnings for themselves or share with the other player.

If they both choose to share, they share. If they both choose to take the lot, neither gets anything.

That reminds me of the bit in 24HPP where Tony Wilson introduces the Wheel of Fortune with a soliloquy about Boetheus.

I'm sure he would have invoked Herrod in introducing that section of the golden balls.

It's over now, thank god!
