The Ring is dead, LONG LIVE THE RING!

Today the "newburgring" proved beyind doubt that it is the offspring of the deadly Nurburgring Nordschleife. Wet at some corners, dry at others, rivers on the circuit, cars in HEAPS!

Priceless!

And Lewis, OMG, what a day, what a drive, and all for sod all :( Mind you he did make his first newbie error in calling for dry tyres too early....but as the wise Brundle the all knowing said....nothing wrong with that, it's his first season.

There was a pre-race sequence of a modern car on the real Ring....ooooh it was NOT quick, NOT happy, and chickened out of the Karasel and the other banked corner....numpty thing.

Might I suggest you retreat to your drawing room and avail yourself of the many broadcasts made on a Sunday featuring your favourite passtime of 22 grown men running round a field after a bag of air.

I prefer this......

Yeah it was great, especially as i muted the sound and put the Murray Walker commentary on on Radio 5, he did ok for an 82 year old who hasnt commentated in 6 years.

Was gutted for Button, he could easily have got at least 3rd with his wet weather skills, oh well

True story:

Was encoding the ring to vcd for a friend who was devoid of either dvd player or PC. Each and every time I tried, it would crash out. It eventually became apparent that the crash was at the same point each time, a bit of poking around in a video editor determined that the point in question was the EXACT first frame in which the TV cuts to static for the first time (US version BTW). Nothing I could do would make it convert the video past this point. In the end, the only way I could make her her VCD was to clip that frame out.

Found that rather amusing I must admit, although the mate in question heaved the disc in the bin when informed

PS yesterday's race was MUCH scarier than any movie.

I love the way people voluntarily write off their own cars there...

Seemed like it was lot of fun in the olden days:

Obviously in Germany they get their equivalent of Ritchie Benoe (sp?) to do the racing. I hope they don't watch snooker or bowls.
