Anyone else ever read this maniac?

For those who haven't, it's a bit like Douglas adams and Terry Pratchet getting really REALLY drunk and writing a Dr Who script.

Talking guardian sprouts, nazi time travellers, the fate of Earth decided by whether or not Brentford win the FA cup, more sprouts,the horrible bloodthirsty masacre of many nursery rhyme characters (or pre-adolescent poetic personalities as they prefer to be known)......what more can I say....except.

never actually got round to buying a book of his...

The only one I really fancy is "The Brightonomicon" (but only cos I live there...) In which the secret of life and the universe itself is mapped out according to location of the Laines...

Thought that it was quite a funny idea but decided to read some other stuff instead.

Being v lazy about his one- I want somenone to read it and say "This is unmissable genius. You must read it" But no-one has as yet...

now if you want a good read, get some Ian Rankin, one of the only authors who names his books after his favourite music!

Actually I'm still waiting for The First Amongst Sequels to make it to these shores. I know it is a different author, namely Jasper Fforde but some of the themes seem similar.

Yes Yes!

Rankin writes brilliantly and has had me hooked from page one whenever I read one of his books...

He uses Edinburgh as the background to his Rebus novels and when I visited last month I was consious of how much of an impression Rankin had left on me. I even met a couple who were on a Rebus tour and asked me to photograph them in front of the Royal College of Physicians- a Rebus hangout.

Think I got into him because he wrote a book called Dead Souls!

Well if you like screaming mental stories about pissheads saving the universe in totally unlikely ways, he IS an unmissable genius.
