getting more into this band currently. listened to their first album tonight (the remastered version with the second disc of early singles) and i think my ear had an orgasm. liked it even better than souvlaki, as strong as that one is. can anyone recommend some good similar stuff (i'm going through a bit of a shoegaze hunger at the moment)?

I seem to remember buying stuff by a band called Chapterhouse when I had a brief daliance with the Shoegazing scene in the early 90s.

I was going to say Chapterhouse... the miserable bastards.

Saw a four band show of those two, Slowdive and Catherine Wheel once.

Slowdive were always bloody fantastic but they could never maintain consistency over the length of an LP. Best things they ever did were the "Holding Our Breath" EP and the better 50% of the last album. Mojave 3 have always been great both live and on record, too.

Saw Slowdive at Staffs Poly (as it was then) in 1991. Rachel Goswell is a TOTAL FOX.
