So some dumb scouse woman has gone and got herself locked up in Sudan for blasphemy or something equally ridiculous. Serves her right really for going over there and not knowing the law of the land.

As she's from Liverpool, can we expect the usual reaction from all corners scouse saying what a disgrace it is, how the government did nothing to help her, and a load of people who dont even know her crying and moaning in public, as we've all become accustomed to?

If only it had been Morrissey.

2007: more like circa 507, she lets her pupils name a teddy bear and now she been done with that most ludicrous crime "blasphemy" because she let her primary school pupils use the common Arab name Mohammed. With the result that she could face the utterly barbaric penalty of 40 lashes (or even being stoned). There's fuck all funny about this!

"Blasphemy" offending a non-existent figment of the imagination first dreamt up when bronze was still the hight of technology, and society was solely run by senile auld patriarchs, educated (indoctrinated) to the standard of a trained dodo, and we had barely left living in caves. This is fucking obscene, and an affront to humanity!

Dunno what the whole story is, but from what I've heard, the class of kids had a say in naming the bear, so I'm doubting that this is some kind of attempt to bait Muslims, unlike the Danish cartoon row.

A name is a name. Who gives a fcuk? Apart from religious fanatics of any persuasion - just shows how dumb they all are.

Might as well also blame the kids for not knowing enough about the ins and outs of their own religion to offer that as a name.

Following on logically, flog or imprison the ignorant kids as well as their ignorant teacher. Maybe their ignorant parents too.

Is it blasphemous to call your son Mohammed? (genuine question here)

No, even if he grows up to be a complete cunt undeserving of the HOLY NAME.

Double standard, but that's religion for you.

The teddy bear was actually, supposedly, named after the most popular lad in class - Mohammed.

20 out of 23 children voted for said name. The teacher wanted something else (something to do with horseman?)

Surely voting is against Sharia law too though?! :skeptic:

She's got 15 days. Disgusting, but a lot more lenient than some of the sentences being bandied around.

Are we turning a new leaf here? Liam backing Sharia law over a poor defenceless white female schoolteacher. There's a first. Mind, they do say there's a fine line between love and hate.

You really are the scum of society, Liam. You're up there with the best of them.

I loathe you - and am very ashamed I actually know you.

You're disgusting - i'd love to give you 40 lashes though!

As I understand it, it is a fairly common name in Muslim countries. OK for people, but not for other things, strange.

Indeed, look at the Lancashire Telegraph court files to see how many Mohammeds are dealing smack or abusing teenage white girls.

Say what you want about the Yanks, but I doubt the US government would have stood by and watched this happen to one of their citizens.

Regarding Liam, I can only echo what Bonz has said. You really can be a nasty little fanny at times.

The Beeb are now reporting crowds in the country are demanding she is shot.

Marchers chanted "Shame, shame on the UK", "No tolerance - execution" and "Kill her, kill her by firing squad".

Well I don't know about you lot but I'm scanning the budget airline sites for tix to Sudan next year; it sounds like a right old laugh!

And definitely not a backward hellhole of the highest order.

Just wait until the locals see what I've called my iPod.

Liam would have a point if it actually was a case of her being punished for violating the local laws (bloody foreigners coming over here etc etc...something we hear plenty of in this country).

However, the Children named the bear, not her. So she is only being done for this because she is a woman (all monotheistic delusionists hate females), and an infidel.

Sudan has a food problem yes?

My advice is watch them starve, see if fucking allah feeds them.

Not so long since we were locking folks up for the same sort of thing, so high horses are not applicable.

It's time for the educated of the world to exterminate these scum....hang out outside your nearest church, synagogue or mosque and kill a few this weekend. Keep Earth tidy.

Well here in the Philippines, it is no longer allowed to Christen your child with the name 'Jesus.' Probably because of some criminals who are named like that.

Well, I know it didn't directly answer your question.

Indeed*!*

I don't know about this one... Sudan really is going overboard on this and this is completely ridiculius

on the other hand she should have known better... she's the teacher and the adult, and she should KNOW the seperation Muslims feel between humans and animals... she ALLOWED the name to be in the list that was voted upon, she could have just struck it down and added other names. If yer going to teach in another country you should know the culture...

but the punishment by no means fits the crime....

They have apparently been protesting in the streets all afternoon, complaining that the punsihment was too lenient, and demanding her execution.

In Palmerston's day we would have sent a gunboat over there.

She was very naive expecting it all to be roses and kisses working in Sudan under Sharia law. Anyone with a desire for self preservation would steer well away from working there.

The law and the reaction of the mob is pretty wacky as well.

But having said that, isnt it time we stopped giving aid, and trying to help these shit-house countries out of the mess they have made in trying to rule themselves since they departed the Empire?

Thing is though, I think this thread was really just a thinly veiled dig at Scousers, wasn't it?

I'm sure Liam wasn't being that malicious, or backing Sharia law in any way against this woman.

Can't speak on others behalf - but i'd take a guess that for the same reasons, it's not even so much the argument Liam was trying to make - it's the way he words things and argues things that fuck people off.

I'm sick of the way he responds and the language he uses against other people on these boards, insulting them and quite viciously - just because they have a differnt opinion. It's just not on. That's my beef! This post was simply the nail in the coffin for many a time i've wanted to tell him what i think.

Seems she's about to be released and flown back to Blighty today.

However naive she was, no one deserves to live under the threat of execution like that. Barbaric.

Or, bear-baric as one Red Top had it this weekend!

Agreed 100%.

It's always a risk when you go to these places that if you say or do the wrong thing they'll have you. She is reported to have said she wanted to carry on teaching there. Sort of stoked the fire a bit.

That Scouse bird was back this morning anyways. Saw her press conference before I left for work.

Seemed pretty dignified throughout. And dead warm and homely. Just the sort of bird who's probably born to teach that age group. Didn't have a negative word to say about what happened to her and hoped her problems won't put people off visiting Sudan.

I'm sure one of the Red Tops can offer enough monies to switch it into her 'Sordid Sex Hell in Sudan Cell' though, or summat.

OK fair point on the blowing up, as I said before, a consistent terrorist policy would see either Belfast and Dublin blitzkreiged.......sorry what's the new "we;re not the nazis, honest" word...ah yes, shocked and awed.....Or meet your new education minister, Osama bin Laden. White murderers must be better than brownish murderers.

As for the July bombers being from yorkshire.....perhaps, but their general (ie Allah) is qiute defo a product of dirkadirkastan.

Cambo, as I'm the only one who commented on someone else talking about SA being a 'dangerous' place. I never said it wasn't a Muslim state... but they don't have near the amount of suppression of rights as the Sudan
