She showed poor judgement in allowing the children to democratically choose a name for the Teddy. She should have known better. Im afraid that 'when in Rome............'
But having said that, isnt it time we stopped giving aid, and trying to help these shit-house countries out of the mess they have made in trying to rule themselves since they departed the Empire?

Thirded! (Yes, I know that's not a word but I don't care right now.) Liam, you're probably the nastiest one on this board; if I were a mod, I'd have banned you long ago.

Thing is though, I think this thread was really just a thinly veiled dig at Scousers, wasn't it?
I'm sure Liam wasn't being that malicious, or backing Sharia law in any way against this woman.
Mountain out of a molehill time, as is wont to happen on these boards.

Can't speak on others behalf - but i'd take a guess that for the same reasons, it's not even so much the argument Liam was trying to make - it's the way he words things and argues things that fuck people off.
I'm sick of the way he responds and the language he uses against other people on these boards, insulting them and quite viciously - just because they have a differnt opinion. It's just not on. That's my beef! This post was simply the nail in the coffin for many a time i've wanted to tell him what i think.

He's just a silly little boy who thinks he's oh so clever. It is best just to ignore him. This thread was deliberately targeted at a specific member here, who to his credit didn't take the bait.

I don't as it happens have much sympathy for the woman. Serve her time and get out of the country. She's been very naive. Whether she is from Liverpool, London, Newcastle or whatever is irrelevent.

Seems she's about to be released and flown back to Blighty today.
However naive she was, no one deserves to live under the threat of execution like that. Barbaric.
Or, bear-baric as one Red Top had it this weekend!
She'll get a fortune for her story, mind! ![]()

Agreed 100%.
It's always a risk when you go to these places that if you say or do the wrong thing they'll have you. She is reported to have said she wanted to carry on teaching there. Sort of stoked the fire a bit.
my dad worked for a few years in Saudi Arabia and regularly drank ale over there. phew!! lucky hey.
glad it all seems to be at an end.

As she's from Liverpool, can we expect the usual reaction from all corners scouse saying what a disgrace it is, how the government did nothing to help her, and a load of people who dont even know her crying and moaning in public, as we've all become accustomed to?

She's been let out, and is on her way home.

Saudi Arabia and the Sudan are completely different places.... not quite the supression of rights there... I wouldn't mind visiting SA, but I'll be f'ed if I'd ever visit the Sudan...
what a bag of shit really, don't call the teddy bear Mohammed, but you don't mind if we just blow up innocent people do you!!!![]()

Port Sudan airport was until quite recently called Osama Bin Laden International, after the man who built it. Maybe that says something about the country.
