Eh? That shouldn't be a problem at all. My iPod is my main holder of tunes, by my choice. I update iTunes from my iPod using CopyTrans. My PC is just a back-up as far as I'm concerned. All playcounts, etc, are dictated by my iPod, not by my PC - I never play music on my PC, it's just a portal to upload tuneage to my iPod.

And, yes, the PC is the original computer I started with. But it doesn't recognise my iPod anymore, nor indeed any other iPods. Don't have any issues whatsoever with any other PC's though.

Sorry, didn't mean it was the culprit of yer problems, just that if you had yer music on yer harddrive (as designed), you never have to worry about yer iPod crashing and taking yer music/library with it.

Not sure how copytrans works, as I've never used it... but how many other computers is the iPod registered on? From my understanding it can only be registered on 5, so maybe you added one too many, booting you off the original?

Copytrans is basically just a way of copying everything back onto your PC. Costs about 20 dollars a licence I think?

There's surely got to come a point when Apple realise they are seriously fcuking off their customers and allow iPods to be used as just external drives to make copy to/from so much easier?

Interesting point about the 5 PC's. I've never heard that?! I plug my iPod in anywhere to charge it. I'm sure I must've logged into more than 5?!

It used to be that you could only be on one computer, but about two years ago they changed it because too many customers complained...

To clarify, it would take only 5 computers you have iTunes libraries at. If you had it checked to be an external harddrive, and never opened iTunes, then that computer doesn't apply.

Not sure how to deregister any computer off the iPod so you could add your original one again (if that is in fact your issue?)....

brother if you have any problem in your ipod or in iPod touch then go to the official site i.e. appple.com and find the solution there. there you will get all information like how tobackup iPod touch data, how to transfer iPod music and other kinds of file using iTunes application.

My Creative Zen M is easily as good as any iPod I've seen (It's even got a special 'anti-girl' interface) and there's none of these boring problems with transferring data (cos that's all music files are) backwards and forwards between any PC. Most of the time I don't bother, just synchronise with Media Playa on either of my PCs, or my sister's Apple laptop or anything else I plug it into. I even got it file sharing with my central heating boiler last week, but all it had on was Leonard Cohen.

In my opinion, Apple suck up to the music industry so that they can get special deals like the 'exclusive' iTunes Originals and U2 in their adverts.

How hilarious that once someone has bought and downloaded Apple 'exclusive' tracks, they can be shared quite freely by anyone APART from iPod owners!

Ha ha iPod losers

I had a creative Mp3 player (Muvu or something) a few years back. It was shite. completely froze and nothing would fix it. I got it as I was anti-apple but ive since gone on to own ipod nanos and iphone. i cant knock apple. it works. simple as that.
