In his own words

Worst Gig of the year

Oh my god. I paid £1 for my ticket to this and I felt cheated. This was a shambles on every single level. From a ¾ empty Ritz, to the line up consisting solely of the has beens and never weres of the remnants of past Manchester bands. David Potts runs through a couple of solo songs to the appreciation of absolutely nobody, Hooky comes on, people shout "New Order" he responds with "fuck off shitheads" and they do this set:

1 I'm The Greatest 2 Monkey In The Rain 3 Happy Jack 4 Sunrise* 5 Warsaw* 6 Insight* 7 What Do You Want From Me? 8 Shine 9 Dreams Never End* 10 Blue Monday*

• *indicates a New Order or Joy Division song. As you can see, that's half the set. Considering Hooky was onstage for eight songs, that's fucking insulting.

What no DJ set Liam!

Taking the teddies and dollies from orphans probably raises a smile.

Some people are just cartoon characters. Liam even occassionally sports the ghost of a cartoon villian moustahce.

EDIT: other interests include strangling puppies and moving bird's nests.

Seeing the worst in everything is a really unattractive trait, but Liam's a nice enough guy.

I would have LOVED to have been there. I really like Hooky, Monaco and David Potts. I'd have heard some of my favourite songs live again.

Cheer up Liam :thumb:

Nothing you twonk, merely pointing out that you seem to love to be the one folks love to hate. FFS, I thought it was obvious. Unless you really do strangle puppies and move birds nests of course.

I didnt write that blog for the people on here in particular. Nor did I write it to get a reaction on that section. Hence why the sections on the best gigs is much longer than the worst gigs of the year.

But then again, i suppose that quite a few who clicked on it from here clicked on it, scanned for something new order related and didnt bother with the rest of it. I imagine thats the oonly reason whY i have got the reaction i have on this messageboard. not hat I'm surprised.

EDIT: And Miek didnt put the whole review up, so I'll post the last bit here:

If the South America tour last year was the death of New Order. This was the funeral complete with spitting on the corpse and dancing on the grave. There was absolutely nothing positive to say about it all. Quite possibly the worst gig of all time. And I've seen Razorlight. And Snow Patrol. And The Pigeon Detectives. Think about that for a second.

Didn't get to see it,but I've got the MP3 of it.It sounded mighty fine to me.It was actually a much better setlist than HARD ROCK CAFE,bar Age Of Consent. Hooky getting the lyrics wrong on DREAMS NEVER END was pure class. "Hang on while I look at my notes" :bass: Jack!

At least Liam got to go the gig

My blog entry for that day reads:

Got pissed with G. Got pissed with Paul. Got pissed on my own for a bit.

Such is the life of the criminally misunderstood.

Taste is subjective... although if you wont to go along and worship at the temple of long perms, million note guitar solos, screeching vocals and the biggest bunch of sells outs that the music industry has ever seen, then please be my guest.

Why anyone would want to put themselves through that I'll never know. Its the very concept of them reforming, for £125 a pop, as an alleged one off of, before the mammoth 18 month reunion world tour which will probably start in late Spring/early summer. But then again, its probably the same reason why you put yourself through all those Pigeon Detectives gigs, isnt it?

Takes one to know one, don't you think?

I do.

Well one would, wouldn't one?
