When I was a teenager my girlfriend made me a cheese and coleslaw sandwich and it was delicious. We split up soon after that and the taste of cheese and coleslaw always makes me feel sad, even though I couldn't care less about her or her dumb sandwich any more. I was pretty pissed off at the time though, to say the least. The sensation is stronger if the cheese is grated and mixed with the coleslaw in a bowl and even stronger if placed on a sandwich made with that cheap bread that styawdents eat.
Does anyone else have a strange pavlovian response which evokes long-forgotten post-pubescent misery to particular sandwich fillings?
