I asked this lovely lass on a date..and guess what? She say YES!! Now what?:eek3:

Any dating experts in the gaff? I'm well rusty!

Edit: No,"just get her fucked" replies please! had all that advice from the lads already..seriously,I'm nervous! I hav'nt been out with 'another' bird in 15 years..Oh and it's a secret from the ex,as she would shirley spoil it!!

Don't take her to a place that you used to go with your ex. Don't, under any circumstances, mention your ex - that's a huge :nono: Find somewhere you can hear yourselves chat. Something not too 'laddish' Cinema is a bad idea for a first date, as you'll both sit there feeling awkward, wondering if the other is enjoying the film. Try a quiet drink somewhere and get to know her. Listen to what she has to say and ask relevant questions. From the conversation, work out what kind of meals she likes and have an Italian/French/Chinese/Indian/Thai whatever in mind if she decides she's hungry. Make sure you have enough money for a couple of cabs, plus drinks and meal. Don't insist on paying for everything - many women don't like that nowadays. You could offer though... At the end of the evening, thank her for a lovely time and suggest that you'd like to see her again (if you actually would, that is). Your safest bet would be to make sure she has your number and say that you won't pressurise her - you'd like to see her again and if she feels the same, could she call you if she wants please? On your way home, just send her a short text, saying 'thank you for your company'.

Leave it.

If she phones or texts, great.

If not, put it down to experience and move on.

Good luck and have a great time

P.S. Don't get drunk and start chanting 'Nu Ordah!' :banghead: :blackeye:

Keep a hankie in your pocket in case you get a nosebleed.

Drive if you can. It's cool to drive on a date. It's good not to rely on taxis if you go home early-ish and you can also (jointly) decide to bin the wheels at some point in the evening. Deciding to bin the wheels is normally a good sign.

Don't smoke too many reefers before you pick her up. AS a rule of thumb, if you can remember the alphabet, you’re probably about there.

Don't go out with a loaded gun in your pocket. It makes it hard to concentrate on what she's saying.

Don't turn up in a place where 130 of your mates are getting pissed. It will distract you from your date.

Try not to get into any fights while you're out with her.

If you happen to come across 130 of her mates, encourage her to move somewhere else. You want to spend time with her, not her dumb mates.

Fighting with her mates is probably not a good idea.

Go somewhere where you get dancing as early as you can. Dancing’s cool on dates, even if you’re shit at it. As well as the obvious benefits of getting you into her space, it can be a good indicator as to how things are going. Whether you’re good at dancing is irrelevant during a date. If she digs your moves, you’re in. If she isn’t, you’re probably not.

If you don't end up with as much as a snog after spending the best part of a ton on the night, try to avoid angrily shouting the exact figure at her in a sing-song voice as she tries to say goodnight. It won't help.

Most of your jokes aren’t funny. So if she’s laughing at the dumb stuff you say she probably fancies you.

After your date, her friends are off-limits for at least three weeks. She’ll get all twatty if you try it on with them within this time, even if you get nowhere with her. I have no idea why, it’s just one of those things you have to learn.

If you do drive, there’s nothing at all cool about handbrake turns, Police chases or crashing. Or Wham. Driving dead fast is about the best thing you can do though, they love that.

Mimic her moves a bit. If she touches her hair, you do the same. Laugh when she laughs.

Don’t follow her into the toilet.

Relax.

I'm bound to get psychoanalyzed then...And I'll bin most of Biggy's advice on those grounds, and he thinks my jokes are cack so what does he know?? even though I love him for saving my sanity yesterday!(we had a great day out,mate,ta..)

Do I a)See it as a challenge and just take her out because she is nectar... or b)Do something else, because she is erm, nectar?:food:

I'd agree with most of the stuff above

So just to add be yourself, not who you were years back when you last went on a date, or who you think she might want you to be.

Above all Remember it's supposed to be fun. so have a good time.

Hope it goes well:thumb:

edited to add My Sister is a doctor of psychology and tells me that she doesn't analyze people she meets cos the stuff she did isn't really relevant, she reckons that birds that read women's magazines a lot are the ones that go in for that pop psychoanalyzing people malarky

Definitely be yourself - no point putting loads of effort and time into impressing her only for you both to realise subsequently that she likes the person you pretended to be and not you, or that you don't like who you've pretended to be... Tell yourself that it's just a bit of fun, a practice run for future dates - the last thing you need is to feel like it's your only chance to meet someone... Stay off the nutter-strength lager... Smile... And whatever you do, don't tell her how chocca yr town halls are... Good luck, fella! :thumb:

noooo! if it goes well, please be the one to do the pursuing. a short text saying 'thank you for your company' followed by nothing could very easily be interpreted as 'not interested'. women love to be wooed - bet she'd be hugely flattered and eversoswoony if you show you're keen.

and if it doesn't go well, let her know that in a nice but definite way too.

awwwwwwwww. have a lovely lovely time!

Be yourself.

No allusion about town halls, I guess she already knows if she waited for you to make a move...

No need to go if she knows you are a New Order fan marauding on this site... Or go, see, dating practise makes perfect dater... A good challenge for you if she read all these lines...

It is the first step which is the most difficult. You will see that as soon as you close your door and go to your rendez-vous, you will feel less nervous as the process is on.

Do not rush. The longer, the better. On the other hand, act before falling in the "good friend" category...

I guess you already knew all that. You did not learn something new, did you ? Self-confidence, self-control and a pinch of humour. The holy trinity for a first time in my opinion.

Bonne chance gentleman !

PS : Do not take any condoms if you feel you are able to resist to temptation...

Don't have too much to drink and go for a piss in a shop doorway when travelling between the pub and the restaurant.......Don't ask me how I know this.

I miss dating. Best part of being single. Sending that first text after you've got a burds number. You've got 130 letters in which to get a bit of your personality accross AND ask her if she wants to go out. Then there's the wait for the reply....too quick and she's too keen, next day and she's not interested. And then, how quickly you gonna reply to her?!! All the games, all the fun. I miss it.

No, I was meaning that she must be aware of your situation. You said your kids knew hers... She must know you are single by now... The buzz... It was not to be read : You took the time to date her in order to be sure that your townhalls were chocca. It was more something like : It took him time to date me because it is uneasy, unconfortable to date someone after years, decades, centuries of marital life.

I won't go any further as I do not know if underaged people are reading this... You are a human being, so she is... Relax !

What a laugh ! Jiphy the sneaky bastard ! To be honest, having condoms with me on a first date scares me as much as trying to cross the Turkish border with spliff...

It is wise to have some when you go out, in case of... But having some on a first date might be misunderstood by the person you dated, maybe seen too raw.

A first rendez-vous is always something like marcher sur des oeufs. That's it walking on eggs.

I once turned up stoned out of my head for a first date. We went to Dukes 92 in Castlefield and I spent the whole evening convinced we were in someone's house. At one point I suggested that we went out to get beer to replace what we'd drunk. As we left I tried to find the guy who's house it was to thank him and to apologise for drinking all of his beer. I ended up giving my number to a bloke selected purely at random from the customers in the bar.

We fell out of the pub and all went back to someone's house, where I passed out. Amazingly, so did the girl I was with. The next day we all went to the pub, where she finally snapped. It seems I'd been calling her by the wrong name ever since we'd met.

It didn't last

She sounds like hard work that one Biggy! Sounds like you bent over backwards,to give her a great time to me... Never happy some birds, are they?

Ha ha at some point we went for a curry with my mate and his bird. They'd been with us all the time, in fact, and my mate was in similar shape to me. I was really chatty through the meal, talking utter rubbish (not like me, eh) but my mate said nothing. Then, out of the blue and apropos of nothing, he looked straight at her and said "you've got a massive gob!" then picked up her drink and finished it in one gulp.

She was a bit pissy about that too, despite the fact that he obviously meant it as a compliment.

Had this one girl who thought she was better than she was. I was early 20s and not the richest guy. We went to this resturaunt and she immediately choses the most expensive thing on the menu ($86 if I recall, in 1995). I tried to let her know in pleasant terms, that I really wasn't that rich and if she could please try to pick something else (plus I wasn't about to pay hand over fist for a first date). Instead, she went off, making a scene in the resturant about how she always got this meal and how she thought she deserved it. Everyone in the resturaunt was looking at us. I calmed her down and told her to order whatever she wanted. We ate the dinner and she was very pissy over the whole thing. After I finished my food, I excused myself for the bathroom... instead I found the waiter and paid for my meal and left... a bit funny as well is that the resturaunt was a bit of drive away from anything, out in the middle of no where... well, she had her meal, just I wasn't the one that was going to pay for it:nod:

Well I'm married and I don't want to mess up my marriage and so being a "good friend" is the only option for me then? But can you be a friend with a woman? I mean you wife hates the slightest mentioning of another girl... a secret friend then? That's so absurd. :banghead:

Absolutely нет, невозможно! You got married for the best and the worst and, in real life, only the best is taken in account. Flirting with the worst is already a sin sanctioned by divorce (with all the charges against you).

Yes. You can believe it, be sure of it, claim it, but your wife will never believe it.

You already had the answer.

A secret friend is best tolerated like this. If you say : “Darling, I didn’t come home last night because I had sex with my best friend” you will get into troubles. But if you say : “Darling, I went to the fast-food with my best friend twenty years ago” you will have more problems. Bet she will say : “You went to the restaurant with that little bitch when we never go to the restaurant?” “Twenty years? You have been lying to me for twenty years, you bastard! How could I live with a skunk like you?” “I spoilt all my youth for a preak like you!!!” Now, it’s up to you…

:) Right, it's up to me:), it's easy for you to say so - you're far away in France and I'm here in Texas. Anyway, I feel very stupid at times. I mean I like to play around and a little bit of flirting, but I also know that I don't want to cross the line, because the (whatever) currency of marriage will be anihilated for me (I know it sounds stupid). And girls at times become more demanding and I have to quit the game, to my embarassment.

Why? Are you his bloodstock agent Biggie -or- are you just jocking for position?

It was an old NOOL joke. Al went through a period of asking how tall girls were when they first came on.

It was too subtle though, and not actually funny. The term 'joke' is therefore only used to indicate that it was not a serious query as to the height, in hands, of BRF's intended squeeze.

Hope this clarifies the situation.

I kinda caught the joke, I was adding to it since I figured you were refering to his bird as a racehorse:shrug:
