Don't take her to a place that you used to go with your ex. Don't, under any circumstances, mention your ex - that's a huge :nono: Find somewhere you can hear yourselves chat. Something not too 'laddish' Cinema is a bad idea for a first date, as you'll both sit there feeling awkward, wondering if the other is enjoying the film. Try a quiet drink somewhere and get to know her. Listen to what she has to say and ask relevant questions. From the conversation, work out what kind of meals she likes and have an Italian/French/Chinese/Indian/Thai whatever in mind if she decides she's hungry. Make sure you have enough money for a couple of cabs, plus drinks and meal. Don't insist on paying for everything - many women don't like that nowadays. You could offer though... At the end of the evening, thank her for a lovely time and suggest that you'd like to see her again (if you actually would, that is). Your safest bet would be to make sure she has your number and say that you won't pressurise her - you'd like to see her again and if she feels the same, could she call you if she wants please? On your way home, just send her a short text, saying 'thank you for your company'.

Leave it.

If she phones or texts, great.

If not, put it down to experience and move on.

Good luck and have a great time

P.S. Don't get drunk and start chanting 'Nu Ordah!' :banghead: :blackeye:

Keep a hankie in your pocket in case you get a nosebleed.

Drive if you can. It's cool to drive on a date. It's good not to rely on taxis if you go home early-ish and you can also (jointly) decide to bin the wheels at some point in the evening. Deciding to bin the wheels is normally a good sign.

Don't smoke too many reefers before you pick her up. AS a rule of thumb, if you can remember the alphabet, you’re probably about there.

Don't go out with a loaded gun in your pocket. It makes it hard to concentrate on what she's saying.

Don't turn up in a place where 130 of your mates are getting pissed. It will distract you from your date.

Try not to get into any fights while you're out with her.

If you happen to come across 130 of her mates, encourage her to move somewhere else. You want to spend time with her, not her dumb mates.

Fighting with her mates is probably not a good idea.

Go somewhere where you get dancing as early as you can. Dancing’s cool on dates, even if you’re shit at it. As well as the obvious benefits of getting you into her space, it can be a good indicator as to how things are going. Whether you’re good at dancing is irrelevant during a date. If she digs your moves, you’re in. If she isn’t, you’re probably not.

If you don't end up with as much as a snog after spending the best part of a ton on the night, try to avoid angrily shouting the exact figure at her in a sing-song voice as she tries to say goodnight. It won't help.

Most of your jokes aren’t funny. So if she’s laughing at the dumb stuff you say she probably fancies you.

After your date, her friends are off-limits for at least three weeks. She’ll get all twatty if you try it on with them within this time, even if you get nowhere with her. I have no idea why, it’s just one of those things you have to learn.

If you do drive, there’s nothing at all cool about handbrake turns, Police chases or crashing. Or Wham. Driving dead fast is about the best thing you can do though, they love that.

Mimic her moves a bit. If she touches her hair, you do the same. Laugh when she laughs.

Don’t follow her into the toilet.

Relax.

Nope,my other log-in name is Sausage Ears..but I see what you mean Gaz:laugh: Problem is,she has a degree in Psychology,I should have mentioned that.. I'm bound to get psychoanalyzed then...And I'll bin most of Biggy's advice on those grounds, and he thinks my jokes are cack so what does he know?? even though I love him for saving my sanity yesterday!(we had a great day out,mate,ta..)

Do I a)See it as a challenge and just take her out because she is nectar... or b)Do something else, because she is erm, nectar?:food:

I'd agree with most of the stuff above

So just to add be yourself, not who you were years back when you last went on a date, or who you think she might want you to be.

Above all Remember it's supposed to be fun. so have a good time.

Hope it goes well:thumb:

edited to add My Sister is a doctor of psychology and tells me that she doesn't analyze people she meets cos the stuff she did isn't really relevant, she reckons that birds that read women's magazines a lot are the ones that go in for that pop psychoanalyzing people malarky

Definitely be yourself - no point putting loads of effort and time into impressing her only for you both to realise subsequently that she likes the person you pretended to be and not you, or that you don't like who you've pretended to be... Tell yourself that it's just a bit of fun, a practice run for future dates - the last thing you need is to feel like it's your only chance to meet someone... Stay off the nutter-strength lager... Smile... And whatever you do, don't tell her how chocca yr town halls are... Good luck, fella! :thumb:

noooo! if it goes well, please be the one to do the pursuing. a short text saying 'thank you for your company' followed by nothing could very easily be interpreted as 'not interested'. women love to be wooed - bet she'd be hugely flattered and eversoswoony if you show you're keen.

and if it doesn't go well, let her know that in a nice but definite way too.

awwwwwwwww. have a lovely lovely time!

Be yourself.

No allusion about town halls, I guess she already knows if she waited for you to make a move...

No need to go if she knows you are a New Order fan marauding on this site... Or go, see, dating practise makes perfect dater... A good challenge for you if she read all these lines...

It is the first step which is the most difficult. You will see that as soon as you close your door and go to your rendez-vous, you will feel less nervous as the process is on.

Do not rush. The longer, the better. On the other hand, act before falling in the "good friend" category...

I guess you already knew all that. You did not learn something new, did you ? Self-confidence, self-control and a pinch of humour. The holy trinity for a first time in my opinion.

Bonne chance gentleman !

PS : Do not take any condoms if you feel you are able to resist to temptation...

Its a well worn line, but I can resist everything but temptation Jiff! And I dig the way you French snog an that,so no disrespect... But don't think for one minute I won't rattle this bird all over the gaff,if she feels the same..Just natural and fun innit? And condoms will be in my satchel, even tho I hate them:nod:

well, you don't need to go overboard...

but please don't expect her to do the post-date calling! seriously.

What the Fuck? No fair!

I've been pigeonholed here:laugh:

The townhalls thing was a larf... I dunno if it is because you are French, and there is a communication misread..But to my mind you are saying she knows my Townhalls are chocca, because she has waited for me to make a move..Eh? By your reasoning, she expects me to turn up and say"milk me baby!" I'm not an animal Jiff! I'm a human being.

Go without them. If you are to do it, go buy them together. Let the good pressure raise...

Never good to have some on the first date. Do not let her think that you came for it only.

Or if you go with some, at least, pretend you forgot where you let them...

That's always been my downfall, far to honest for my own good..I wish I could be a sneaky bastard like you.

Mind,I just can't see me asking her to go and pick out condoms together. That's a classic! What if she says I love those XXXL ones? YEEEEE!

Don't have too much to drink and go for a piss in a shop doorway when travelling between the pub and the restaurant.......Don't ask me how I know this.

I miss dating. Best part of being single. Sending that first text after you've got a burds number. You've got 130 letters in which to get a bit of your personality accross AND ask her if she wants to go out. Then there's the wait for the reply....too quick and she's too keen, next day and she's not interested. And then, how quickly you gonna reply to her?!! All the games, all the fun. I miss it.

And Glas,ye dating..bout time I did I reckon...bet it's a beaut laff!

Mick,my kid knows her kid..If I bring her back to mine, what will they say at school?? Fuckin hell.
