what is happenning there? is this the beginning of revolution, I think it's not, just another muted scream of damned, poor nation. Nobody can help....What can I do? Not to watch olimpic games?

Too many people want to see olympic games on TVs, made in China, where sportmen will wear American or European sportswear, made in China. Everybody wants the Olympic games, made in China, even if it is at the cost of some people of Tibet, killed in China.
You can boycott games when two ideologies are opposed (Moscow 1980/Los Angeles 1984) but not when countries generate profits thanks to "winner-winner" agreements. Economy is stronger than politics...
It seriously surprises me that people have such a non-chalant veiw towards China. Thier actions on Tibet should be enough to show how they would act if they were the most economically and militarily powerful country in the world... and they are growing fast, won't be too soon before they are forcing their atrocities outside thier borders...

Perhaps a big brave country like the US could take them on in a straight toe-to-toe?

The West are claiming that their recognition of Kosovo as an independent nation was a special case. If China abuses its power to crack down separatist, can the West consider Tibet as another special case?
Anyway, Tibet was just annexed by China, so they can call it another special case. But then, China is far different from Serbia.

But that means cutting down profits and growth rate... while everything is done to increase them nowadays. For any politicians (who do not see beyond the last mandate they can win) it would be like sawing the branch they are sitting upon. See them do. When they debrief the nation (especially a depressed one), their trick is : "We have one of the best growth rate in the world" and everybody is happy.

What can you do when so many people don't work at all and many more don't want to work for a $5/hour. In the former USSR, voluntary unemployment was against the law and was prosecuted, mind you.

Not working for $5.00 an hour might be an issue, but its also the consumer mindset of the American public. Rome fell to the barbarians and internal striff, Inca fell because of conquistedors.... and WalMart will be the death of the US.
