Saw the Cure peforming @ Ahoy, Rotterdam, holland last night...i have to admit it was shit, band played solid for three hours, how boring! Robert Smiths voice sounded very girly and he kept eating pies. The tracks ranged from tedious to absolute gash. The buggers have also got a forthcoming album...

The closed with 'A Forest' in a 10 min long version or so, fucking rubbish

Go and see them if u need a CURE for insomnia

fook the keeboards:) at last they play without this device, besides Porl is playing guitar like it was keyboard, nice. I saw them in Warsaw February 18th. Fat Bob is in a good shape, really; great setlist.

They really put on an amazing live performance. I think if someone could throw Digi in a bag, tie it up and make him watch a show, he'd be thier biggest fan.

You know the one thing I really liked about the Cure is that they were in touch with what the FANS wanted to hear. I've been to many other concerts where the band has an attitude about playing thier music differently because they don't want to hear t anymore. The Cure never has this issue, they always give what the fans want, which makes them so great live.

No keys but Jason is using some samples on drum triggers. I can't remember which songs specifically. I'm sure Porl will be playing some of those parts from guitar. I'm excited to see them but I'm sure I won't be completely sober for this show so I'll have to maintain an even buzz for 3 hours or so.

I didnt know it was physically possible for a band to play for 3.5 hours. Thats some feat but I cant help think its a case of quantity over quality.

I wonder if The Hoosiers or Razorlight will be performing 3.5 hours shows in years to come?

Jason...he's not good. And never is gonna be the same Porl plays some parts from guitar.

I've never seen them play live...but if you compare videos like show, Orange...with festival 2005, you see a big difference.

Keys are important to the band.

I can't think of anything worse than seeing a band play 41 fucking songs. Especially when half those Cure tunes are about 30 minutes in duration anyways.

Are they saying 'goodbye', or are the set lists just becoming as bloated at Bob's waistline???

And, really, The Cure? In 2008????????

:confused2:

3 1/2 hours????? A Goth "Grateful Dead" now?

sounds like it would be a good idea to arrive late and miss the first 1 1/2 hours, come in after "Friday I'm In Love" singalong crap.

If New Order ever decided to play one last 'Goodbye' gig, I hope they put a poll online and let the fans vote which songs they should play. Put everything up there, everyone gets say 20 votes - one for each song they'd like to hear.

From that Cure setlist, I'd happily pay a tenner to see their third 'encore' (big headed bastards, why not just say it's part 2 of the set?)

You don't play three pre-planned encores, each lasting a minimum 30 minutes unless you're a fat, pie-eating twa... oh yeah... :banghead:

Well, it was good, but it was far too long.

The fact is, if you do forty one songs, all the effectiveness is just diluted. I can barely remember any of the songs that were played. Disintegration was very very good. Lovecats was fucking atrocious.

And god forbid when New Order reform, they forty one songs. Thats forty more than I could take. I seriously would rather go watch Snow Patrol than watch that.

Nice to have a few beers with Dave Clark though. And thank to Al and Gemma for putting me up and making some some top quality bacon sarnies. :thumb:

Just to count the points of the poll is already too tiresome for them...

it was ace and we loved it.it was too long because i was drinking beer throughout the long setlist so it was all getting a bit hazy by the end :confused2: best bits were the stuff off disintegration album and 17 seconds album . stupid fucking transport problems, had to walk 2 miles to wembley and 2 miles back to hotel in the cold rain.

Yeah, of course they will be, you doofus! As a novel diversion from the normal tedium of Cure song after Cure song done exactly like the records, Smith will stop one of their numbers suddenly without warning whereby each member of the band will wheel out a keyboard of their own and resort to a spot of power-typing just to break the sheer monotony of their increasingly tedious and laboured angst-by-numbers student bedsit mope-rock.

I'd definitely like to see that on DVD though!

I saw her on that programme too - her voice seems to get lower in pitch and more croaky as she goes on. A zillion miles from the crazed power-screeching of the Hong Kong Garden era!

Whatever happened to her loyal drumming pet budgie though?
