New Yorkers are the only Americans I've liked on the whole. I found them really relaxed and funny.

Saying that, my only other experience of Americans have been in Florida and Vegas. I quite liked some of the people I met in Vegas.

I think by relaxed he means that things that annoy New Yorkers are generally dismissed with "fuck you buddy" and no(t too many) hard feelings.

Strangely enough I have always found NE Americans including New Yorkers most helpful and even friendly.

Then again they prolly took pity on us poor German tourists as we were at the time.

Well Florida are all transplants from up north, so they are uptight arseholes that are trying to be relaxed and it doesn't come off as natural. Vegas are all transplants as well... and who really wants to live in 130 degree weather with no rain?

The South has too much ignorance and the midwest is a bit uptight. I prefer the West coast as it is fairly fast paced, but less so than New York... but people know how to relax and slow down when they need to. Hell, executives go to work in shorts and Tony Bahama shirts here. Though I love Cali for the beaches, I think the best place I've lived was Oregon. No state comes close to that one. Beautiful and great people. I personally can't stand people that talk alot of shite, but can't back it up like a puffed up rooster. New Yorkers are the worst at that.

If you want to visit a cool place with cool people towards the East coast, I found those in Ohio and Michigan to be people that have a good balance....

my friend's husband went on one of these 'gun weekends' in nevada. it was him (a new yorker) and a bunch of michigan militia/idaho survivalist types.

There is an attitude in the USA that cities are full of uptight rude people who don't care about others and there is lots of crime (nonwhites), while the more rural areas are full of laid back friendly (white) people who help each other... this is largely a fantasy.

Also part of the liberals vs conservatives attitude... Large cities are seen as those mean "liberals"

Areas with a lot of diversity and decent education levels are usually pretty cool to others.

There is a certian enjoyment of firing off 100 rounds in a minute... the 50 cal is the best, same sound as the Blue Monday beat, unbelievably powerful gun. You don't even need to be hit by the round, if it flies within a couple feet, the velocity would rip off yer limbs... the Mark 19 (grenade launcher) was the most fun since the rounds are large enough for you to see them fly through the air, then explode on impact. Hell of alot of fun.
