,can get VERY much cheaper!
That goes for a LOT of bands out there at the minute, see me FIRST before you book ANYTHING!

No chance. These prices are set in stone as all of of the Unions now book through a centralised NUS portal. What the Sugagbabes get in Lincoln is what they get at Warwick is what they get at Sussex.
And these Uni Ball prices are HEAVILY reduced from what their tour price would be. The bigger acts (i.e. not East 17 or GLC!!) see doing these gigs as a way of reaching out to a particular demographic, not a money making exercise. It's all about profile.
The Hoosiers did 28 uni dates last Sep/Oct for the princely sum of £1000 a show and ZERO expenses purely to get their shite AOR out to a young and "hip" crowd.
no sir,can get very much cheaper believe me,you wanna price list (trade) GLAS?

oh, P.S, will eventually name the
portal, but at the mo making far TOO MUCH MONEY OUT OF IT!
Admittedly the shit is going to his the fan VERY SOON!
Bands will, and will have to be cheaper, and i will be there 2 pick up the pieces, sorry state of affairs but then again this is business!
need to know owt lad, then email ME!
Thanks for the offer hombre but I doubt there's many agents, promoters and shady middlemen I don't have a direct route to. Don't forget your talking to the guy who brought Grandmaster Flash out of semi-retirement 12 years ago by doorstepping him at the DJ box in a Manhattan strip club and persuading him to come over to the UK for 12 back to back dates. I've been in this racket for a while ;)
The most interseting fact i garnered from the current prices was how CHEAP Judge Jules was goin out for. Go back ten years and you'd be looking at double that fee and your chances of getting him to play Derby University on a FRIDAY night would've been non-existant.
The money these Ents Mangers have got to play with these days is crazy. £40 a ticket x 3500 students for your average May Ball. And that's before you factor in liquor sales!!!
It depends on what a May ball puts on. In my second year at Queens they just turned over the union to shit DJ (Queens of Noize) and shit bands (Dirty Vegas). Off the top of my head I think we got charged about £15, and that was four or five rooms of entertainment. Place was fucking rammed, couldnt get a drink. next year, I organised the poltics department leaving party, and we charged about £30 and that was for a four course meal and some shit DJ in a posh hotel in south Belfast.
When i did my MA, there was a summer beach party thing, which Girls Aloud played, and that was fifteen quid, and that took up Academy 1 and the whole of the University BUilding. last year, they did something called "Pangaea" which was something like a winter Ball i suppose, and that was £20. (Although not to Me, Alex and a load of others. We blagged our way in, sat at the entrace to Academy 3 absoluteley leathered and some girl came up and said "I'm looking for Sex with Robots" and got the response "arent we all"). and that was bands , the biggest of which were Client and The Whip (who hadnt even settled on a lineup at that point).
My best mate Andrew went to a lot of formals when he was at Law School. He got charged a fortune for a ticket but got a meal AND name entertainment. I thikn Tim fucking Westwood did it one time. So i think for £40 thats what you're looking at, meal in one room, then DJ/Band in another.
Could you imagine going toa gig in a tux though? Fyuck that for a game of soldiers.
Steve, can you get any band cheaper? I said I'd help next door find a band to play the summer Fete in the grounds of the Village Hall in July, they wrre looking at some sub standard covers band, but if you reckong you can get Arcade Fire for about £500 I will personally stump up the cash.
