last night's set list in Oxford

Couldn't be the NO song, as they would most certianly named it correctly as Jizzstream if it were:nono:

I'm trying to imagine what it would sound like if Doves played it.

I'm not getting very far.

Amazingly, and this really is amazing, I was wearing a Doves t-Shirt last night. As my colleague pointed out, it says SOME CITIES on the front and it's got the names of some cities on the back.

4-5 new tracks it looks like. Doves are my favorite band. I would have loved to have been there. Eagerly awaiting the new record....

Cunts. No Spaceface.

Am seeing them tonight, I really hope it is the Jetstream!

No.

I'm off down the South Bank now to hang out with all the screaming girlies by the backstage door. :shades:

Winter Hill as a title is far too near to Coldplay - Violet Hill for my liking

"Jetstream" is probably not J-E-T

Some lyrics posted on Doves from the gig would suggest it's a new song (3rd line down is reference to Jets)

...any mention of Benny?

Although one reviewer says it is a bit NO

2nd new one had Jez singing. Totaly dancey beat that reminded me of Stephen Morris, then got all syncopated at the end. Loads of keys in this one too - ickle Rebelski reminded me of Gillian in the New Order Perfect Kiss video turning swtiches for some reason during this. My favourite of the night - think Jez had a lyric sheet which must either mean it's really new, or he's loosing his mind

Although just to add i do NOT want any new Doves material to sound like New Order.

Although it was a nice surprise to hear Jonnie Walker play Krafty on his Radio 2 show this morning.I'm not a fan of Walker. He was sitting in for Terry Wogan.

for the rest of the world outside of the north west, winter hill (on the outskirts of Bolton) has the antenna that transmits TV to the north west, which makes it quite well known in the area, paradoxically, if you live on it, TV reception is shite

Saw them tonight and no, it's not the New Order song.

It's better

Leggy D told me so it must be true.

That is really not a major achievement, or a musical yardstick.

Exactly the same setlist as Johnny posted though.

I've just got in. It's been a long night!

But, at least I got to meet this girl from Nathan Barley...

...who I was desperately trying to work out where we knew each other from ...

.. until her more famous friend turned up and gave her a cheeky squeeze...

.. at which point I went "You're from Nathan Barley!" and she went, "Yeah, I am, but he isn't!"

Ac-tors! :nonono:

Nah. They're alright, but just alright. Place was mobbed but there just wasn't the intensity that I think New Order have had in recent years - well, maybe not New Order, but at least New Order fans. I 'borrowed' Ally's ticket near the end to meet a mate then walk him back in on Ally's ticket right the way to the front with no grief. Even at the worst New Order gig in recent year you couldn't make your way through the crowd!

Doves are technically better than New Order, but I still just don't geddit.

More interesting prospect was the Manics. Wasn't busy but they had a right 'ardcore down the front of 17 year old girlies all wearing leopard skin and/or feather boas. Now, that's what I call a firm!!!

Shit venue though. I thought it was the RFH?

Isnt it tough for any band or its fans to be intense in that place?
